Not Again

Thieves hit us again some time recently. Went into one of our buildings and stole air hoses off the big compressor, a broken fan and a bad electric motor, an old axle and who knows what else. The guys went to use the compressor and the hose was gone. Then they noticed the other stuff.

It is getting frustrating. We just can't be everywhere all the time.

Whoever this was had to know us, walked right past our rather fierce dog who was installed by the gate the last time we were nailed. We have so many route men and such and the milk truck coming through it is going to be hard to keep the gates locked, but I guess we will have to. I am almost always home so they will just have to call me to unlock it for them. Everyone will have to pay the price for the perpetrator's dishonesty.

I want to leave a comment, but I don't want to use too many swear words in one sentence. Annie

That's terrible. It seems strange that you have so much trouble in a rural are like that. Are you far from the truck stops along 90 in Fultonville? I know I've seen some shady people at that T/A when I pass through with horses for the race track, but that's true of any truckstop really...

Sorry you have to deal with this

Some days it's hard not to despair of the human race. Let's hope the thieves' ill-gained booty causes them no end of trouble.

Your criminals must have "cattle byproducts" for brains - stealing an air hose? Yeah, I bet the black market is just crying for old used air hoses.

Blown away. Can't wrap my head around it. So sorry. Particularly for the harm it does to your ability to trust those who come to your place in performance of their business duties.
Depressing.

Several years ago we were having problems----lamb ready for the freezer gone, tires on our small tractor slashed, a steer obviously slaughtered and hauled away--- and we live on a 1/4 mile driveway with only one way in and out off a dead end road. Our solution was to buy a security camera which our son-in-law installed and connected to our computer (I got a new computer, yeah, but no lamb to eat, boo). It has been a big help in keeping track of who comes up our driveway, especially when no one is at home. Has it prevented any thefts? Don't know, but we haven't had any problems since we installed it. As the deputy said, " it takes gall to steal something when there's only one way in and out of a place."

Anne, that is exactly how I feel, thanks

Jeffrey, we are very close to them, like a mile. We used to live right down the block and I never dared let my kids out of my sight for even a second.

WW, thanks for that. I simply don't know how to react to all this

Tina, most people are nice, but then there are the other ones

Jeffro, also the broken fan, makes you wonder. The electric motor I can understand. Lots of scrap value. I have bad words for them. Now I am kind of afraid to go check at the barn when the dog barks, something I do very often normally

Cathy, I think our sales folks are okay. Most of them have been coming as long as I have been here. It's having to keep the gate open so they can get in to deliver that is causing a problem. Otherwise we would just keep it locked and make it at least a little harder for them.

Hilltop Farm Wife, sounds like a great idea. How far does it have to transmit the images to your computer? I would really like to get something like that, along with a driveway alarm. This is getting nuts!

Yes! I second the webcam!
