The Mighty Mississippi

Is so low that the Army Corps of Engineers is blasting out rocks that stick up. It may have to close to shipping in the near future. This will mean no grain going south and no fuel and fertilizer coming north.

Now a group of senators are asking President Obama to cause the release of more water from the Missouri River in an attempt to save shipping on the river. Hopefully he will take heed.

Well, that business about the Mississippi is completely new to me and concerning . .

And that picture just makes me feel good. Something magic about closeups of Christmas trees.

Pure magic.

Cathy, I came across it while researching for the Farm Side last week. Hard to believe that something so important is getting so little attention. A lot of goods ride that river every year.

Linda, um, no, I really don't. No glamour about river commerce I guess

Lisa, I can well believe it. A huge percentage of corn goes down the river and fuel and fertilizer come up it.
