I Wish I was Good on Ducks


The sky was fairly rippling with birds tonight when we came in from the barn. Lots of Canadas shuttling back and forth and cupping down to the river. A couple of batches of small ducks that were probably teal. A goodly helping of assorted-sized flocks of ducks medium and large in body size but with almost no light in the sky it would have taken a lot better birder than I to even pick out mallards.



It was thrilling to see them just the same. And there were a LOT of them.

Marianne. I love these pictures.

It brings to mind a sort of parable my mother told about a little boy that envied the people, across the valley, who lived in the house with the golden windows.

Of course when he decides to explore the focus of his yearning . . . he discovers that it has been a mere illusion that induced his longing,
