Good Neighbor

Lost a real good neighbor yesterday....the kind of gentleman who found it amusing if he had to step out and stop our livestock when they were escapading down the driveway headed for town. He would laugh about it later and brush off our thanks as if it were nothing at all. A real nice guy, from a real nice family, folks who would never bother, but always be there if you needed them.

We had missed him for a while as he has been in a home and then last night came the news of his passing. The boss loved to stop at the bottom of the driveway and chat with him a while if he was out in his chair, or stand at his car window down at the post office and talk a spell. Things just aren't going to be the same I fear. They were cousins too, the best kind of cousins that get along good and enjoy each other a bunch.

That's sad.

Sounds like an old-timey kind of neighbor. They don't make too many of them anymore . . . the kind that help but don't get in the middle of your life. It's a passing age, I fear.
I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry for your loss...people like that are fast moving on over to the other side...I fear for those of us left...real manners and good neighborly actions are disappearing.

Thanks, all. He was a really nice guy, one of the boss's favorite folks, and we are all gonna miss him a lot.

So many thoughts here.
But I'll settle on this:
So many good souls who ask little more than to be of use . . to lighten others' loads.
May he rest in peace and may your happy memories, overtime, supplant the sadness.
