Varmints

Got about half of Liz's chickens last night. The girls are going to put them in the peacock barn tonight with Laura, Silver, and the peas. Those two hens are smart enough to go out during the day and come into the building at night. With any luck the newer chickens will follow them and roost high enough to avoid anything that can pry open that door.

Hopefully, however, that coop will be secure enough to keep out whatever killed the Delaware, Cochins, Araucanas and silkies last night. Whatever it was slipped under the coop into the yard and then pushed the yard door up enough to get inside and wreak havoc. It was big enough to attempt to drag a hen out the door.

Life in the country....you gotta love it, even if this kind of thing is part of it.

Cathy, enough to make you mad...but they are out there, we know they are, and they like chicken as well as the next guy.

CDH, a lot of brush got removed yesterday, which should make them a little more nervous about coming on the lawn. Dagnabbit.
