Is She or Isn't She

Laramie this summer, after some escapades outside the fence.

Over the past couple of days I noticed a couple behavioral changes in our little milking shorthorn, Laramie. She would turn her head to look at me when I went in her stall.

She even seemed just a little bit friendly-ish. Normally she is pretty standoffish.

Then this morning she would not move over to let me up in the stall. Normally she is very good about that. Most of mine are, with the notable exception of Dublin.

I hate to be crowded and train my string to stand over politely and let me in. Instead she leaned her whole weight on me and gave me an odd look.

I informed the boss that I was pretty sure he had another chore for this morning. My guess was that she is in season and ready for breeding for her next calf.

He got his equipment ready and his examination agreed with my intuition. So I'll cross my fingers for a nice little red calf nine months along the calendar. It's all a great big gamble, but it sure isn't dull.

Rev. Paul, thanks she gave us a nice one this year

Jan, she does look that way doesn't she? She is just a little on the wild side, not mean, but you had darned well better be quiet and gentle with her or she will freak out. No problem. I like her little self.

Linda, lol, it is.

Joated, thanks, we can hope.
