Wake Up Sleepyhead

Unedited...just as the morning was given to us.

A slow-moving cow rising from her bed to meander down to the barnyard gate.

Cardinal talking
Catbird
Crow
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Willow Flycatcher

And too many more to remember or mention.....

It was just a little foggy and mysterious and more than a little amazing and wonderful.

Liz reported a doe with twin fawns over in the cow barnyard when she went to get hay.....looked brand new. Safety in numbers or safety by farm dogs.....

It is hard not to love this amazing land...as long as I stuff all those horrible memories of winter into the closet along with the down vests and snowmobile pants.

June and Dairy Month is almost here.

Beautiful, foggy morn ... the dewdrops on every blade of grass, leaf and twig ... the quiet sounds of the land as it wakes up ... the first rooster ... cattle starting to move, bells clanking.

I miss those.

Isn't it something . . . . how memories of winter recede and opening the closet and seeing those heavy coats and down vests . . .well . . . all this green surrounding us now is a nice buffer against those white frozen days.

It was a Shhhhhhhhhh morning here as well. like downy wings of an angel, misty, and as if the day were holy and in quiet prayer. My friend Jef7rey Hilder, writer and architect puts it this wayL:"I have often pondered the phenomenon that idealists wal the earth, ----invisiblem"transparent like some holy thing"---and of what unlimited wonders they may be capable." those lines "transparent like some holy thing" from Thomas More's poem Lalla Roooka-------perfect photo of your misted place to carry those lines to you as well. Blessings, Merri

I love first light...just me and the bright, but sorta sleepy, little bird voices!

Great photo!

You've shown us some incredibly beautiful photos of the incredibly beautiful landscape you live among, and your words have brought us the sounds and the smells and the textures as well. Thank you for making your world so real to us who love your blog.

Rev. Paul, I can imagine your farm country memories must be sweet indeed. You live in a rugged land of wild glory, but the tame, gentle rural countryside of the Lower 48 can be spectacular in a different way.

Cathy, whenever I feel whiny from working hard out in the heat I remind myself of the sterile ice desert that is winter, look out the window at all the green, and tell myself to get back out there and enjoy it while it lasts! It's the best time of year!

Merri, it was that way! A virtual poem of a morning. Some days I am so awed by what the morning light reveals that I feel as if I were still dreaming. Take care, and thanks

LInda, I slept in a bit this morning and I feel as if I had cheated myself. It is the best time of day!

Jacqueline, thank you so much for your kind words. We are so fortunate to get to experience things like new fawns and amazing birds. I try to be grateful every day no matter what is going on in the mundane world.
