Because I Could

The bottom

I went out for a weekend walk today, just planning on going around looking for birds. Eastern Bluebirds were the goal of the day.....and of course I found a pair fighting with a Robin before I even made it to the Heifer Pasture.

I could backdate them a couple weeks or more, because I've been hearing them, but I didn't trust that I recognized their call well enough.

Looking back down from half-way up.
Anyhow, as I walked across the bottom of Seven-County Hill, a Blue Jay called from the top.

Down from the top

Other directions

It has been years and years and years since I walked up, but it felt like a challenge and so....don't listen to the people who denigrate trying to walk 10,000 steps a day. A very short time ago I would have been hard pressed to make this walk. Today i enjoyed it.

Wanna see a video?

Your first line kept echoing in my head.
"I went out for a weekend walk today . ."

It resonated with a poem I couldn't remember.

Came to me this morning. Frost's" I've Been Acquainted With the Night. " I read it. It's so different from your celebration of life.

I had to do your version.

The first stanza is Frost's. The second is your song :)

I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain—and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.

I have been one acquainted with the day.
I have walked out in sun - and back in sun.
I have outwalked the nearest city light-weight.

Darn I'm good!

Good to be back on here again seeing all the beauty of your area and loved the BOX with Peggy in it and dad too!!! Loved the idea of hearing a Blue Jay and your lovely walk.....we still have lots of snow and below zero in NE Minnesota...long , dark, winter but not as cold as many before that were minus 50 for long stretches and minus 30 for weeks...so no complaints...ha ha ha..blessings. merri

Cathy, could you believe that they were right down by the house!?! I was so tickled.

Jan, it never fails to amaze me, especially on really clear days.

Cathy, I laughed out loud. Don't know if I was supposed to but I did. I was very proud of myself, probably more than I should be, but I could barely believe that I did it.

Linda, there is nothing like a goal!

Merri, I feel so bad for you. That is terribly cold! We barely had a winter this year, which didn't break my heart. I hate the cold weather. Guess I had better not move to Minnesota. lol
