Update

The nuts have it....American Groundnut that is. A consensus of wonderful folks, here and on Facebook, agree that our little mystery flower from the previous post is thus identified. What a fascinating plant!

They grow all along some of the walkways at Montezuma, out on periphery where there are walking trails along some of the smaller bodies of water. I have tried for quite a while to identify them, but with no starting place except that they are obviously legumes, it took a while.

I should have just posted them here first. You folks never let me down.

Can you eat them and will you try them if they are eatable? Very pretty plant and nice color flower.

Jan, truly! What did we do!?!

Cathy, thanks for being the first one to ID the stuff. I am so tickled to know....I always need to know.

Ellie, yes, from what I read both beans and tubers are edible if cooked. We don't have any here, so I have no way to try them myself. Maybe I will see if I can buy some. they are delightfully lovely.

Don't want to be contradicotry, but those pictures look awfully like the nasty invasive Dog Strangling Vine. Quite distinctive seed pods. Not easy to get rid of! I hope I'm wrong, but worth checking to be sure it's not!

The Furry Gnome, Yikes! I had to go look it up! The seed pods are certainly similar but the flowers seem different.
