We couldn't get the house above fifty degrees yesterday, which is far too cold. The outside air temperature wasn't that bad...maybe 8 above, but the wind was ferocious. Horizontal snow all day. I wanted to invite AlGore to visit and sit in the living room and chat for a bit. He deserves goosebumps the size of real geese just as much as the rest of us do.
What is with emails from certain people that vanish from my inbox just before I need them? I needed to send some money to someone for something, wrote them for their snail mail addy and their reply vanished. I know I didn't delete it...nothing in sent mail or trash. Same exact thing happened with the same person last year, so I think it is some program they have on their mail. Makes me look dumb as a rock, which is not an experience I enjoy very much...now I will have to write them again, second year in a row...maybe I should learn to keep a hard copy.
Planted some indoor lettuce the other day..We do love our winter lettuce. Usually it germinates in three or four days, but it is so cold...inside...that it is still just sitting there. We need a nice January thaw.
Everyone is in a horrible mood around here so I am just tip toeing around them and hoping they all get their kinks worked out and get back to normal.
Soon.
In the meantime I sure hope the Lord will grant me patience because I need a double helping and quick!
Happy Thanksgiving

I can't even imagine that kind of cold! I hope the wind dies down so that at least the house warms up a bit. ((hugs))
I can totally relate. The only warm places are in bed these days. Under piles and piles of blankets, quilts and polar fleece sheets.
Here's to hoping your wind dies down and our tractor will start at some point. :)
I watch the weather wondering how you are doing. I also try to see what is happening with Evan and Tina Marie and with Deb. My heart is with you, even if that doesn't really help.

It seems our low (outside) is the same temp your home is inside. C'mon over.
If something is more important than a cursory "hello", best to put it to the phone or snail mail. You don't have your email "pushed" to another account, do you? Hmmmmmm.
Prayers from here. Maybe we all need to pray for Al and the rest of the idiots?
Maybe you shouldn't invite Al over, he may die on the spot from the reality of actual cold and then what would you do? :)
I hate to admit we are basking in 40 degree weather and mud!
Maybe you could sell Al some carbon offsets.
OK, totally not funny
Brrr! Mid-20's here!
Like Dani, I can't even imagine that kind of cold! It's in the 40s here and we're miserable so I can't imagine what it must feel like at your house. Cranky cows, cranky family - you need a tropical vacation!
Can't wait 'til Al comes to visit......make sure it's a cold day and you've go the heat turned way down. I hope you week gets better and everybody gets their tail unwound:)
Dani, I know I shouldn't whine as many of my readers live where it is much colder...but when we can't get the house warm it is so miserable. Guess we need to buy a bigger circulating pump for our outdoor woodstove..
Sara, I know...when I read about your days it sounds so much like home it is incredible. It is no fun when you can't get warm indoors. Thanks
LInda, good thoughts always help. Sorry about whining...
Steve, wish I could figure out what is happening. There are programs that delete your email after a certain period of time and I think that is what is going on. Last year I blamed myself for deleting but this year I know I didn't. Would love to come over and get warm except that over is just so darned far. Thanks
JB, thanks, I shouldn't whine. I know it is colder and windier and wilder there than here. I just hate it when we can't get the indoors warm. Got to get a heavier circulating pump for the wood stove water system I guess
Nita, I was just sitting there trying to read yesterday, with about six blankets, a hot water bottle and almost all my outdoor stuff on and I had the thought that he should be sitting in the chair opposite...maybe in a Speedo...no wait, that is just too scary...
Jan, it's a thought
FC, up close to twenty today, but yesterday, wow, it was a bad one!
SCMomma, sure sounds good! Horizontal snow is just ugly.
Linda, he needs to understand that we don't all live like he does. Thanks for the kind words....there are certain people around here who make their own problems and then make a big fuss about them...
I hear ya on the mood thing, I think its the cold. We cant keep the house warm with the howling wind either.
Fred The dog water that was on the front porch from christmas froze yesterday. we weren't fifty but it was cold in the house even with the indoor stove going too!!!
Love Ya Hugs and HUGSaND MORE hUGS!!!
Brrrr....that's darn cold. Hopefully without the wind things will warm up soon. I know being cold can make everyone cranky for sure.
Planting lettuce inside is a great idea :) I'll have to find a container and give it a try - it sure would taste better than what we can get at the grocery.
I sure hope things improve for you and quickly!!
These are the hardest days. I kept my coat and coveralls on everytime I came in the house. The cold with wind is exhausting.
Still....we always get through, don't we?
WW, It is so darned hard to get anything done when you are really cold. It makes me at least, stupid and bungly...
Matt, I love you too. Thank you for the hugs....nice and warming. Yesterday was much less miserable....
Deb, thanks for the kind words. Lettuce thrives in a large flower pot or whatever other container you use. All you need is a nice sunny window. It grows quickly and tastes delightful in the middle of the winter. I use Pinetree's various leaf lettuce mixes
Teri, you are right...we usually do..and it is sweet indeed to be done at night and go to bed to rest and get ready for the next round. Hang in there friend...
