Sunday Stills...Controls
When this challenge called for knobs and switches and things that control non-living objects I was stumped for anything fun. Oh, we have keyboards and tractor controls and stuff...but they just didn't flip my buttons so to speak. Then this morning I remembered that this old house has knobs and switches and controls...many of which don't do anything any more...that are kind of cool...so here they are.

I just love the antique door knob. :)
i also love the antique door knob, awesome
Love that antique doorknob. Wish I had one instead of the new lever type.
I love the old door knob!
Old houses have such character! (But they can be a bear to retrofit with new wiring and insulation!)
Love the push button light switch AND the old door knob, but you've got me stumped with the second picture. What was its former function?
second pic. is a furnace control...am i right
Funny how you can find stuff when you aren't looking! Good stuff, 3!
I love that all of yours are well used!
The old light switch is great! And the door knob is beautiful!! I have no idea what the second one is..it controls something with a chain..:)
The doorknob is beautiful!
Something special about the fixtures of an older house.
I love the push button knobs! My grandma had a car with pushbutton knobs!
I love the intricacies of that old doorknob. They just don't make things like that anymore!
dibear, thank you...it is one of my favorites too. This old house is just full of surprises and I love finding them.
Cloe, thanks, me too
Cathy M, I love hunting around the house for cool things like that...thanks
Joated, thanks, it is a furnace control, which opened and closed the damper on an old wood/coal furnace in the cellar. It had fine, but very strong chain running from it to the unit.
Tracy, you are indeed! Good job!
Steve, thanks! I almost skipped this one because I never remembered to take the camera out to find something...it was right down to the wire on Sunday morning before I thought of this
Colleen, very, very well used. lol, thanks
Far Side, thanks, the middle thing is a furnace damper control for an old cellar wood furnace
Linda, thanks
OE, thanks, I think so too. So much detail that you never see today
Brenda, thanks, that is so cool. I vaguely remember someone in my family have one with push button transmission controls. We thought it was quite a marvel
Michelle, you are so right about that. I often wonder how it was done...
I know I say it a lot, but I really love your old house!
How wonderful. These buttons and knobs bring back memories. I can feel them under my fingers.
Very nice, someone earlier posted about the character of your house. Indeed it does. The door knob is great.
Dani, thank you. I am fond of it too, although just now it needs a good cleaning. lol...it is so much nicer to go outdoors. Yesterday I needed to work in the kitchen, but outdoors the breeze was dancing and the sun calling and I didn't even get dinner in the oven until almost six.
Cathy, thanks. It is funny...some of the switch plates have three sets of buttons; it is trick to hit the right one in the dark
RG, thanks, I wish I was better at getting pics of the hardware. Some of it is really amazing.
that is a REALLY cool door knob! i love your house.
Thanks, Ericka,
