Argghhhh

I need to get my fanny back in my other chair...in the office...and get back to bookwork.

But I don't want to. Ugh. It is sunny and gorgeous out and I have spent the whole day, other than chores, either writing the Farm Side or working on the books, whine, whine, whine.....

Liz is off to Iowa for training for her company, which just happens to be the cooperative to which we ship milk. Not too thrilled about her having to fly around the country the way things are today, but not much to be done about it.

I want my mommy

Her little dog, Ren, is even unhappier than I am. While packing this morning, Liz left her suitcase on the bed while she took care of some things. She dropped the lid so the dog wouldn't bother it. When she came back there was nothing to be seen but the tip of a wiggly blond tail poking out the side of it under the lid. Ren had packed herself and was ready to go.

When asked to back away from the suitcase, she did so, but climbed back in the minute it was unattended.

You know, I never thought when we were raising the gang and teaching them how to be adults, that they would ever be so far away. One in Iowa, one in Virginia, but thankfully, one here in the kitchen with me....and her spoiled yellow dog.

Far away? Try Anaheim and Portland, OR.

Hope her trip is good and I have been stuck in the house with homework and studying for test, I would love to be out in the nice weather also.

Oh, what are dogs for but spoiling?
I imagine you've done right by your kids if they've spread their wings and are out in the world being grownups. Now, if you had raised children who were afraid to step foot away from home, you'd have something to worry about!

I loved this story...the tail in the suitcase. Having your kids far, far, away not so much.

I'm with you on the book work :( At least you have Ren to spoil while she's away.

Beck, the Goobster is spoiled!

Joated, oh, my, Iowas and Virginia are plenty far enough. Got one driving and one flying today, so you know where my mind is.

Lisa, isn't the weather out there crazy! snow and low thirties. Glad I am here!

June, they are already so much more capable than I am of travel stuff and getting along out there in the big world. I have never flown, never lived anywhere but here, never done so many of the things they do all the time. I miss them though.

Linda, she is such a funny little dog. Kind of goofy, but clever in her own way.

Linda, actually she is staying with Jade's grandparents. We figured two of them here would be too much. Gil is such a wild mand.

Awwwww . . . that is so sweet. Too bad a camera wasn't available to catch that 'take me along' moment.

We sure know how you feel about having your kids far away. I just keep reminding myself of the days when parents waved goodbye forever as children headed west on Conestoga wagons.

Cathy, alas, Ren ate Liz's camera, so she was helpless. What a funny little dog though. She and Gil are from the same kennel, but they are as different as chalk and cheese. Gil is a big goofy thug of a dog and she is tough and yet dainty as a little beauty queen.
