Evening Moods
Done with chores for another day. Sitting here at the table waiting for potatoes from Liz's Amish lady friend to boil up to go with the pot roast in the oven.
Thirty-five cents for enough fresh potatoes for a meal for us. They were kind of scabby and green in spots, but nothing scrubbing and peeling couldn't cure. Not a bad deal.
And they were delicious.
After a rainy mugwump of a day, with little to recommend it, weatherwise, blades of sunset slash across the pasture, lighting up Scotty, the little Jersey/shorthorn/Holstein cross in her very own spotlight.
And then the rain came down again. That fog obscuring the rest of the herd is actually a heavy downpour rinsing away the sun and bringing on the gloom.
Sunny this morning, grinning like a kid that has just endured a half-hearted spanking, but knows the comfort of being a well-loved favorite even through this last transgression.

Had to drive out of our wooded neighborhood this morning just to see a (n) horizon. You live in horizon.
And that inspires lines like that last one.
What a take on O'l Sol :)
I love your views. Terry and I are off to load hay...dread the thought!

Cathy, everywhere but to the west, and I can get a western view from down the driveway.
Linda, oh, poor you. Hard work that
