Little Northern House Wren, silent as a leaf's fall
Or raucous as a grand parade, big brass band and all
Let them change your name dude,
Just keep your attitude!

By way of explanation, the powers that be recently split House Wrens into two species, Northern and Southern House Wren, as well as recognizing five endemic Caribbean species. The pair on the porch simply do not care and try to sing me away every day, like soapsuds down the drain. Alas, for them, it hasn't worked yet.
ReplyDeleteYou are my Shawnette of the North. I always enjoy your writing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kris, those are kind words indeed!
DeleteNice close-up! We have barn swallows nesting in the horse shelter, they scold me every time I go in there!
ReplyDeleteOh Marianne . . . how perfectly sweet! Now my friend . . who wrote that adorable poem?!
ReplyDeleteShirley, I envy your Barn Swallows! I guess they used to nest here on the farm before my time, but a rowdy boy knocked down the nests and they never came back. Ralph's mom banned the boy from ever visiting again, but it was too late.
ReplyDeleteCathy, thanks, I did. Sometimes I still get a little inspiration, although not often any more. lol
