Thank you

Thank you all for your prayers, kind comments, letters to senators and just plain caring.
The prayers worked and your kindness helped us get by.

Late last night a complete stranger called and offered us a market for our milk. He came in today and talked to us, and although we will be making less money, which is not such a good thing, we now have a market.

Hopefully at least, if nobody else runs around behind the scenes messing it up.

I have never been lied to in my life, like I have this past week. People that we trusted knowingly mislead us. Not a pleasant lesson, but I can't thank you all enough.

Glad to hear some good news. I can't imagine what the last couple of weeks were like for all of you. Hope we were of some help.

Now days it is very hard to know who and who not to trust. Good luck with the new market and I hope that it works out for you.

that's the hardest lesson to learn, isn't it? that some people are capable of smiling and looking you right in the eyes while they're doing their level best to gut you... and you never look at anyone exactly the same way again. although it helps that every once in a while, you find someone that barely looks at you, but goes out of their way to help.

i hope this works out!!!!

Oh, I'm so happy that there is a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel. I will keep praying that it works out for the best.

Thank God for breakthroughs, 3C, and strangers He sends to help. I'll keep praying that it all works out, even better than it was before.

I know what you mean about having your trust broken with lies. When I went through it, it was with a church. I think God was trying to teach us to rely on Him, not on other people.

Praising God and praying He will be in control and all will be well for you.

I am so glad to hear that things are looking up. You and your family have been on my mind here constantly. I lie awake at night, listening to the ocean waves come ashore and wish I could send some of their soothingness your way. This should not be happening to such an honest, hard working family as yours. Do keep us informed.

What great news!! All of us who follow Northview Diary feel like your neighbors and friends. And we feel a little helpless that we can't offer more than our words and prayers.

that's great news... maybe not exactly perfect, but at least you'll be sending your milk again...so it won't be a total loss...glad the stanger stopped by.

happy easter!

wow! what a relief that must be!

why can't they send a regular truck into your farm?

is it something that "could" be done or are the haulers incapable of it..don't understand the whole thing, but i'm glad to hear it's resolved.

NYV, you helped....a lot
Thanks

Lisa, I can't tell you how confused I am right now. I still don't know what the truth of all this is. I think we will find out in time though. We have long time friends who are members of the same cooperative who are out of town right now. Actually a couple of them. I think we will know more in a while. Thanks

Matt, thanks honey....that is so cool. So at least you weren't in the shop all week. I will be thinking of you and praying your work goes safely and well. Take care, love you too.

Ericka, I truly think we have been changed by this. When the phone rings unless the person on the end is a member of my family or one of our true friends, I listen to every nuance trying to judge what they are up to. Thanks for your kindness through all this.

The Wife, thank you! I hope everything turns out for the best for your family as well. I can't tell you how much I enjoy your photos and stories!

akagaga, I expect that you are right. Today we are tired but relieved. We still have to deal with a new inspection by a new inspector and we have no idea what will be expected. The man that was here yesterday told us a lot of things that previous inspectors didn't which will be so valuable to know...for example, if you are a farmer you will be familiar with Blue Coat, which is a topical antiseptic that is fantastic for minor injuries to cattle. Absurdly for the last decade or so it has been illegal to use it on cows or have it in your barn, simply because the company that makes it hadn't gone through the rigorous and expensive process of FDA testing. Now it is legal again.
Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts!

Isla Rider, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Isla Gringo, thank you. I feel the same way. One of our state legislators has taken what seems like a serious interest in this issue and is going to be looking into what is happening in the industry in the state. I am really grateful for that because I don't think we are alone at all.

Jan, thank you. Your words have been a help to all of us. Even the boss who doesn't compute much read some of the comments and about cried.

Anon, thank you so much and Happy Easter to you too. We will be spending part of the day with some very sweet folks and I am looking forward to it.

Anon, it could have been solved at any point with no real effort on anybody's part. It was basically a spitting match between two coops. The one we belonged to negotiated a decent contract with a milk company. If the monster cooperative let them get away with by passing their control, how many more farmers would have jumped ship to take the better deal? Somebody needed to be made an example of and it just happened to be us. Thanks for you kindness!

And by the way to everyone. As it looks our milk is right back on the same truck it was on two weeks ago, along with the same other farms that were on that truck before.....amazing isn't it!

Whew. This has been very much on my mind, and I'm so relieved to hear that you have a buyer and a hauler. If it's appropriate to blog about the details, I'm sure we all would like to hear - after you're recovered a bit, of course!

threecollie,
You've been on my mind everyday. This is Great news!!! I hope this is the solution that you all were looking for.
It's so sad to realize that we can't trust our own neighbors anymore. You just never know whose telling you the truth and who isn't.

Better days are coming......we have to keep believing that :)

Jinglebob, we are hoping! A public official I talked to today said that he thought it was a good a choice as we were going to get so...

Numberwise, I wish I could reveal details, but instead I will fire you off an email in a minute...thanks

Deb, thanks, I think it is a symptom of what is afoot in the whole world today. After things settle down a bit and I get a lot more research done I think I will write about the corruption of the cooperative system, but there is still a lot for me to learn.

Linda, thanks! I enjoy your blog and I especially love the series you are doing on getting on the land where you live...it is in some ways so much the same and yet so very different. I keep coming back to the photo of your irrigation water, which I just love. The whole idea is cool!

Was so glad to read the good news, or rather the sigh of relief.

I know exactly what you mean about people and their lying. After going through what my family and I have had to deal with, I really don't know if I will be able to fully trust people again. It's sad, but it's the truth. When people out and out say one thing to your face, only to flip behind your back and file a 5 page DJ (declaratory judgment) with 13 counts with all but 1 a lie (their atty got the name right) against your 75 year old grandmother, it tends to make the blood want to boil...

Anyway... I will keep you all in my prayers... as I know how it is switching and with inspectors. We personally dread the day when ours decides to retire...

Good to hear you've found a market and won't have to be dumping milk or sending out your cows. I hope this works out for you in the long run.

Now, you can either hold a grudge against the Co-op and never really be able to look at those who have lied to you without contempt (which they rightly earned) or you can try to move on. If you do move on, just don't forget the lessons learned.

I missed all the "excitement" but I am sure glad for you that it was sorted out. Animals just can't wait for politics.

Sara, I am so sorry to read about your family's trials with this kind of thing. How do people go to sleep at night knowing that they have done such things to others? Your poor grandmother!
Don't know what is going to happen with new inspectors and all...time will tell. We have been working overtime making the barn look good and calving nights as the cows seem to think that ten PM is a good time to give birth. It all has a wonderful upside though as I can now fit in my "skinny pants"
Take care...and thanks for your kind words and prayers.

Joated, in this case many of the members of the cooperative are very good friends, and completely innocent. I think we will simply file this away under something to keep an eye on and let it go. Thanks for your kind words of support.

Sharkbyes, it was hard, but there is light at the end I guess...thanks so much
