Congratulations it’s a beautiful girl you have there, I was thinking about names but all I have are Icelandic names for cows.  Viska is one of my favorites name. It means wisdom but you can see so much wisdom and peace in cow’s eyes. Well I wish you and your family a great weekend xx Áslaug

Beautiful calf! I showed my husband and he thought so too. We really like the colored cows and we are excited because I checked our chart and we used Poker three times. I will keep an eye out though cause that was a big calf. I have awhile to wait though.

She's HUGE, but such a pretty little thing! Wanna trade for a jersey that is her size and probably 2 months old?! :)

My goodness! She is a big girl, isn't she. Then again, staying "inside" as long as she did is it any wonder.

RM, thanks...I think we are going to go with Rose Magnolia. Here's hoping she lives up to it. lol

Nita, thanks for the kind words. I am thrilled with her

Alaug, thanks and thanks for the great name. We have a whole family of cows whose names begin with V. I am going to name the next calf in that family Viska!

The Milk Maid, thanks, I will be interested to hear how your calves by Poker turn out. This cow was dry a bit longer because last year she was first calf and then she went two weeks overdue, so I am not blaming the bull yet...still I am going to wait a bit on using him on any small heifers.

Sara, thanks, and thanks, but I will have to pass...lol..I have fallen in love with the milking shorthorns, probably because we were so lucky to buy such a good bull to get started with.

Lisa, thanks! Have a great time today!

June, less than twelve hours old when the pic was taken. We couldn't believe it was a heifer!

Joated, thanks, I don't know what it up with that prolonged gestation thing. We have seen several cases in the past few years. No fun

Faithful, thanks, she is already up to my waist!

SCMomma, thanks, we love her. lol

Jeffro, they are tough, and the shorties are especially so. We had another one last night, but normal presentation and size...another heifer, this time a black one.

Will Rose Magnolia be at Cobleskill or Altamont this summer?

June, we generally don't do Cobleskill, but there is a real good chance for Altamont!
