Teens

Yep, it's cold. The hummingbird feeder froze solid last night, but I am going to leave it out, as we are supposed to see the fifties later in the week.

Still struggling with the injured heifer...poor little Spotty, my long awaited Valiant daughter.  Dear girl is such a good sport. Her back was hurt and she is down and can't get up, yet she will let us roll her on her sides so we can get the milking machine on one side at a time.

This is not because we want the milk. That goes to the discard bucket. It is so she is not hurt by the pressure of it building up in her udder. She loves having Becky rub lineament on her back too.

The worst of this for me is that Beck was there when she was hurt and she is pretty sure it was 171 that put her down. If you remember, this is 171. Had she been sold when she went after me, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Instead we sold Claire, who was not much of a milker, but at least she was gentle.

However, hindsight is 2020 and all...and it wasn't really up to me.Neither of them was or is my cow. I don't get bitter about stuff like that any more though. It is what it is, and if you have animals you will lose them. And usually it will be your favorite that gets hurt or sick or whatever.

Meanwhile, if I was doing that gratitude thing on Facebook, today I would be grateful for firewood.
