Nesting Season

We saw a Bald Eagle carrying a big stick to the Sprakers nest today. It was the first time Ralph had ever seen that and perhaps the third for me. It almost felt like Spring despite the foot of snow on the ground and the winter field birds thronging the roadsides.

Much more exciting were the events of January 5th, when the nesting season gave to us a brand new granddaughter, Riley Mae Friers. She is a beautiful baby and joins her delightful sister Bailey Rae, and lovely cousins Peggy Ann Marie, Madeline, and Claire, to give us a full house of grandbabies.

It won't be long before the owls are hooting sweet love songs in the night, but none will be as wonderful as all those little girls.

Congratulations to the parents and you grandparents! She's a lovely baby.
We have eagles here eating carcasses of coyotes (yes I made 2 of them into bird food) and it was a real treat this morning when I was doing chores to have an eagle fly directly above me, quite close.

Shirley, Neat that you have them so close to you. The ones around here are scavenging road-killed deer and the like, but we haven't been close enough for good photos yet. Thanks for your kind words.

Denny, thanks! Can't wait to meet her.

Congratulations, Grandma! For various reasons (mostly failing eyesight limiting screen time beyond my own blog), I haven't been visiting friends' blogs much lately or staying long enough to say hello. But I am so glad I popped in today, on such a happy occasion. All those girls, makes hand-me-down clothes and stuff easy. And lucky you, they all live close enough for regular hugs and kisses.
