There are no flies
It is not muddy
Snow is pretty
Say it again
There are no flies
It is not muddy
Snow is…..
***Most politicians understand that if you tell a lie often enough people will begin to repeat it as if it were the truth...so I am chanting the mantra above in hopes that I will somehow start to like winter...
I might add:
People pay for dermabrasion to make themselves look younger. I am hoping wind blown snow has the same effect for a much lower price. (Although so far all it has made me look is redder.)
When I let the dogs out for a constitutional convention I do not have to stand on the porch shivering and calling, and calling, and calling before they come in. As soon as I open the door I find them huddled on the back porch in a trembling black mass and they fall all over themselves trying to get in.
There are no flies
It is not muddy......
Ha, ha, ha! I can certainly agree with the "There are no flies" part! I am going through the same thing with the dogs, too... out to the dog yard, and back to stare pitifully through the sliding glass door ... all but the old Golden. He's so slow that we open the door, call him, and shut the door to wait.
ReplyDeleteHow 'bout a picture of the huddled doggies? I *adore* border collies but don't have quite enough to keep them busy around here...
Cold preserves things.
ReplyDeleteIt's an excuse for an "extra layer" of flesh, Ergo: Have more desert.
Skiing, skating, sledding are fun for many.
We'll be missing this in mid-July when it's 140 degrees in the shade.
Easier to warm up than to chill out.
Snuggling is now mandatory.
Warmer climates get much bigger, creepier insects.
Frost on the windows is very pretty.
I think that's all I got... and to be honest, I think of them all quite often... when I buy a lottery ticket and think, "It's warm on The French Riviera, Hawai, Florida, Bahamas, The Mediteranian, etc., etc...."
Hello Marianne,
ReplyDeleteSusanna here. I look forward to reading your column every week in The Recorder, and wanted to let you know this. Yes, I have to admit that I am a city gal, having moved to the Mohawk Valley 1 1/2 years ago from Long Island. But, I haven't regretted the move for a minute and if I have to go back "down there", it's done kicking and screaming. Your column gives me the insight that this former city gal yearns for! Thank you :) My e-mail address is combs@mltw.com, I don't have a webpage or anything like that.
We have 6 inches of snow and freezing cold. I'm not sure which is worse.
ReplyDeleteWe DO have bigger creepier insects down here.
ReplyDeleteHi caroline, I will see what I can do about the picture...Nick is not too fond of the camera but if he wants to come in bad enough he might stand still. lol
ReplyDeleteMatthew, I can see that we think alike on some things for sure...such as extra dessert!
Hello susanna...delighted to have you visit Northview and thrilled to have Farm Side readers. Thanks! Welcome to the valley and glad you like it here.
Laurie, I imagine your weather is probably a lot worse than here. I just have to whine about it. Out in the western part of the state I just heard they are getting close to TEN FEET now!
FC hmmm....I am not sure how that would balance out. Big bugs? Big snow banks...hmmmmmm
It's not working yet....haha!
ReplyDeleteRead about all that snow out there. Oy. At least we're getting highs in the double digits again here in Michigan.
My big Fluffyweiler likes it cold. I let the dawgs out an hour ago. Smaller non-fluffy Rottweiler wanted back within minutes. Larger fluffy Rottweiler is happily lying in a snowbank chewing a bone.
Finally switched to Beta Blogger....let's see if my profile actually works now. :)
