Wow! You caught one sitting still. We see them sometimes, but they are so quick, and I am slow to grab my camera. Very nice picture.

Our lavender bloomed in February and we had hummingbirds around the tiny flowers. It made me feel guilty that I wasn't a better hostess, so must buy a hummingbird feeder.

Good luck with the cow and calf...

  5. Chris, she is quite tame...wish I could get a similar shot of the male but he is very nervous. I think she must be the same bird as the last couple of years. Tame enough to fly right up to your face to check you out.

Mrs. M, thanks, she sat right there while I took about twenty pictures!

Sir J, thanks, as I said, a very friendly little bird.

Jan,I like them so much I even take a feeder to camp with us. Must be folks feed around the lake because they always show up the first day and get mad and fly around beeping when I take it down to go home.
    Thanks for the good wishes.

Sara, they are so delightfully feisty for something the size of your thumb. They fight like crazy.

  11. I love these birds. Just can't get them in my shaded back yard. That's a very sweet shot.
