The corn is high as an elephant's eye

(Or at least we wish it was)

And the giant sunflowers are taller than the moon.

Maqua-kil Blitz Neon Moon that is.
LIz's summer yearling for this year.

Paintsmh, she looks good! I'm jealous of your sunflowers, aren't knee high yet, except the volunteers.

  3. Hey Nita. Moon's biggest problem is that she is pushy and bully on the halter. Doesn't handle as cleanly as she should...But we have 25 days til the fair and another 4 after that until show morning. So hopefully she'll be great by then!

  4. On the farm we watch, the corn was harvested weeks ago and the field is already plowed for something new.
    Good luck paintsmh!

  5. Jeepers, I didn't know sunflowers got that big.

Hey, why is Liz punching MOON in the face?

  6. My grandson's one kindergarten sunflower has thrown seeds to come up as volunteers for the last three years. We now have a sunflower forest. What an amazing plant.

  7. Your sunflowers put my measley 3 footers to shame. I'm jealous too!

  8. Paints, she does need to get a little smoother on the halter, but it will come the way you are working with her

Nita, a kid on myspace gave away the seed in a contest. I have never grown anything like them. Although the heads aren't as big as some I have seen they are the tallest ones I have ever had

FC, thanks, sure a difference in the seasons. My baby brother is working down in your state stabilizing a sink hole that is threatening an aquifer, and he has to work nights due to the heat. (He runs a drill for pumping concrete into places where the earth is unstable)

Steve, they continue to surprise us ever day...and....now, now, you know she isn't. lol. That is just the approved stance for leading a show cow.

Jan, the birds plant a lot of them for us too and we love them..leave them to grow where they will. Those are only about six feet tall, but still very cheerful

Linda, I am going to try to save seeds off the tallest ones...if the birds don't get them all. Maybe I can share...

  9. Nice calf! Is she named after the Brooks and Dunn song, Neon Moon?
