In today's strip
This has been my favorite cartoon for more years than I can believe.
But we still will be able to enjoy her work.
Here is where everybody's stories are concluded. Isn't it fitting and fun that April ended up as a veterinarian for the Calgary Stampede (we kind of like rodeo here, even if we pronounce it with an "e")?

Charlie Brown, Beetle Bailey, Blondie, Tiger, Barney Google, and now this one...
Sadness.
I've followed FBOW for years as well. I figured Jim wouldn't make it to the wedding, so the ending was kinda different.
I didn't realize until lately how many blogs out there are devoted to reviewing comics, and how some attract the artists who draw them. But, while the snark factor is fun, most of the time I'd just rather read 'em.
I'd have to say Zits is my fav at the moment. Then the list gets pretty long. I subscribe to DailyInk and MyComicsPage for my daily dose - they are emailed to me every morning rather than have to chase various dead tree sites to get them all.
Steve, I have read it as long as I can remember...before computers I managed not to cancel my subscription to our very irritating local newspaper so I could read it. When we got computers we all read it every morning and talked about the Pattersons as if they lived next door. Sad that they are moving on and leaving us behind
Jeffro, I knew you were a fan too and thought it was pretty cool. I also like Zits, but we only get it on Sunday. Also love Crankshaft
(my second favorite) Luann, and a handful of others. I am going to have to set up some kind of online comic subscription as we are canceling ours to the paper, which never seems to actually get here any more.
No, I love that strip! They always have to take your favorites!
Thank you for your comments. The Farm Blog site is growing like crazy. Where are you in upstate New York? I am in Brockport, near Rochester.

Aussie O, I will enjoy the old ones I know, but I have the kind of memory that when I see them again I will remember them...so it isn't going to be nearly as much fun as getting up in the morning and clicking the little icon on my tool bar to find out what happens next
Lori, thanks so much for visiting and for taking time to comment. I just loved your photos. We are in Montgomery County right on the river.
I've been reading that comic since I was about... 10 years old? My mom had all those books from the 70s, too. LOL.
I will miss it. It isn't terribly surprising, though. Johnston had intimated, years ago, that she was going to quit because her husband had left her for a younger babe and she didn't have the heart to keep it up (seeing she modeled a character after the guy). But she kept on, until now.
An era has ended. So now what are we stuck with? :(
Mrs. M, I too knew it was coming and have been thinking bad things about Hubby, dang him.
I have been surprised all week to find the new start with the older drawing style wonderfully appealing. It is funny in a fresh and lighthearted way. I am going to miss reading about Liz and Anthony though. It was my favorite story line.
