Life on a family farm

I had planned to write of happier things
But then we heard about a young boy, barely old enough to drive, losing his life in an accident just across the river from here. He was a little younger than our kids, but hung out with the same group that Alan is friends with. Alan liked him, as all the kids did. We feel so bad for the family. In a small town even if you don't know folks personally, you are friends with their friends or live just down the road. Our hearts go out to this family and I just don't have it in me to do a regular post today. Pray for them if you can please, as we will. You can read the details here if you wish.
We have had a couple close calls in our immediate family the past few weeks. I won't go into details because some of the stories aren't mine to tell. Suffice to say we were lucky. There were some injuries but people are all on the mend. I am more than thankful that we didn't lose any of the kids or cousins or anybody. I don't care how hard you try to keep everyone safe, bad things happen to good people.

It is sad, threecollie, but I want to thank the emergency crews. I've never seen so many red lights and blue lights flying by my house. All we can do is pray for the families, at the same time we are thankful, that there, but for the grace of God, go I. One icy day last winter, my son rolled his car on Steadwell hill by the hospital, and came away with only some bruising.
Such a tragedy....the loss of such a young life. I don't care whose child it is, it affects all of us in some way or another. My heart certainly goes out to his family and friends.
I hope everyone in your family mends quickly and glad to know all are going to be ok. I worry about my boys and do all I can to protect them but there is only so much you can do.
Death always feels wrong when it ends a life before it really has a chance to get started. I pray God's comfort and peace on this family. God doesn't cause bad things to happen, but He can certainly help people through and show them how to gain strength from their trials. ~Joce
fred,I'm home all my prayers also. Such a shame. You are welcome to tell our story.Tawny is fine just bruised. going to look at the car tomorrow. I'm ok my toe is a mess. Not very sore though. wich is good.
I sure don't understand why bad things happen to good people either. I feel for the family. You are kind and caring, and I understand how upsetting something like this is.
akagaga, we do have outstanding emergency people in this area. I'm glad your son was all right. My niece had equipment problems and wrecked her car this week too. Miraculously her injuries were minor but we were very worried about here
Deb, thanks, it bothered me so much since I heard about it. All of Alan's four years in high school he regaled me nightly with tales of the kids he hung out with. They were funny, delightful young men, and had a hilarious culture among them. Although I never met most of them I thought highly of them. They had intense jokes about the most unlikely things, such as cinnammon buns...you only had to say the word and everyone would be rolling with laughter...Boy friendships are so undemanding and unbiased. They sure have good times. To hear that one of them died before he even had a chance to get started at life was so troubling.
Joce, I have prayed for them to find some comfort somewhere since I heard about it, although it is hard to imagine anything that would help with that kind of pain
Apple, thank you. I know with your bus run you must be close to even more families than most...take care
Matt, poor Tawny gave us some frightening moments...especially since I knew about this somewhat before it hit the news and my kids almost wrecked my car the day before her accident (hit some deep wet snow in blinding rain...Alan's first snow storm and I hope he learned something from it). Real sorry to hear about your toe. I have worked with broken toes (although not crushed too) and it is no fun.
Thank you Marti, it is so troubling. I feel so sorry for the family and friends of the poor kid.
That's just too heart breaking. We live in a very small town, too. Like you said, everyone knows everyone. Yes, bad things do happen to good people, and we don't know why. All we can do is pray for courage and faith to get through it.

I will add my prayers. I know first hand how a death like this affects the whole community. I'm glad the other young man will recover.
