Irony at its Most Ironic

A chilly standoff in the Capitol and another at Northview

It is five degrees here at glamorous Northview Farm, way below (like about 20 degrees or more) the statistical norm for the season and the region. It has been cold like this almost every day since mid December and even November was outstandingly cold and nasty. This is not just a little anomaly here, this is one danged cold winter. The cows didn't even start shedding until well into February, when normally about the second week in January the hair starts flying. Every once and a while it actually gets warm enough here (indoors that is) to feel comfortable and we wonder why we suddenly feel so relaxed. It is sort of intense to be chilled most of the time......

Therefore this story just tickles my sense of irony all to heck. Global warming my foot...my blue, frozen,
never out of double wool socks foot....

  1. Since my job is working with coal mines, and since my Dad worked for a coal-fired power plant, and my husband just retired from being an electrical lineman, I dare the United States to go one month WITHOUT any of the coal powered generation plants running.

I wonder what everyone would do then?

  2. Cold here too. I saw the "irony" of the protest on the news last night. Makes you think uh?

  3. I feel for y'all and I know what you mean about the warm up and finally relaxing. We live in an old rock and concrete non-insulated home that was built in 1860's. We get warm in May just in time for the AC to go on! :)

The cold this year seems to be colder than normal. If anyone would ask. :)

Here we keep going from the highes of 70's for a few days then the highes drop to a little above freezing with low's in the LOW being 11. It just creating havoc with my calves.

  4. You'd think they would plan it for the hottest day in July ... not late winter.

  6. Now I'm confused. I thought cow flatulence was the biggest cause of global warming.

  8. Linda, my brother worked with producing clean ways to burn coal in college and it was fascinating....people have no idea what they ask for when they want to change willy nilly with no thought for the consequences.

Tipper, hope you are feeling much better. We are hearing reports of just how bad the flu is this year from friends down your way...take care. And yes, it amazed me that these folks couldn't see the absurdity of their situation for themselves.

Sara, brrr....I was just thinking this morning as I reluctantly faced getting out of my nice, warm bed, that soon I will awake to robins singing and sunlight leaping down the hallway to greet me. Hard to imagine today, another frigid five degree wonder. lol

FC, seems as if it would have a bit more impact!

Rebz, good name for it...covers all the bases so to speak. lol

Jan, you never know...burst one bubble, they produce another.

Tim, that is terrific. I hope it all works out the way you planned and your garden does wonderfully. Take care
