Making up for my Rant
(Hopefully at least) by wishing one and all a happy weekend.
This wonderful rhubarb leaf bird bath was crafted by one of my favorite sets of aunts and uncles. It is one of the joys of my life to watch a blue jay or the local song sparrow take a vigorous flutter bath, then wipe their faces dry on the herb pots. It is a comfort to toads and a nice drinking bowl for local critters too. Someday I would love to try my hand at making some of them.
I love my leaf bird bath also. I have mine next to our pond as you know. Come for a morning coffee with us and sit by our pond. Have one of the kids bring you. (or is it yound adults.)
ReplyDeleteThe Stellar's Jay is calling, the stainless steel mixing bowl is our bird bath or cat's cup and rain gauge - I didn't mind your rant, so much beauty in your life I always hope that writing will wash the worry a bit, I miss the honey bees.
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend, you are allowed to rant anytime you want! :)
ReplyDeleteoh please. rant away!
ReplyDeletei LOVE your iris! what a beautiful color! what's it called? ours are similar, but a fairly pale lavender - they'd look beautiful together!
I personally like your rants... it makes me feel so at "home". :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE your bird bath. I bought an elephant ear bird bath for my mom for Mothers Day. so far the only "birds" enjoying it have been the dogs, cats, and goats... :-/
Lisa, I would like that. I was thinking about doing it this morning, but of course after being awakened at 4:30 by barking dogs, I discovered that Alan and Clark are up in back turkey hunting.
ReplyDeleteEarl, I loved seeing the Steller's the one time I got out West. They are so very lovely! We have plain old blue jays here. Usually they are so raucous, but this time of year they are like bright blue stealth bombers, slipping silently through the greenery.
And we are missing the bees too. Last year some kind of little black bee did the pollinating but this year we aren't even seeing those.
Dani, thank you. I usually feel guilty after going off on a tirade, but it does make me feel better. lol
Ericka, I wish I knew its name. My late mother-in-law bought us a big bunch of named varieties from White's but I don't remember the name of this one. I love them though.
Sara, thanks, that makes me feel much better about doing them.
It took a very long time before the birds used this one. I wonder if they were afraid of how white it was until my lousy housekeeping allowed a little algae to coat the bottom. They sure like it now, and I just love watching them!
