The Auctioneer

The boss got a call the other day asking him to help with auctioneer duties over at the Sprout Brook machinery auction. They must have figured he would be willing because when he went over yesterday they had a company shirt with his name on it all ready for him. Here he is in front of his tractor display case in all his finery. (Note the nifty hair cut provided by yours truly. I HATE cutting hair but I do it when I gotta.)

  5. FC, oh, yeah, we both went to auctioneering school way back when and he is good at it.

Nita, he does, doesn't he? lol I think he is delighted although I suspect he is going to be real tired tonight, poor guy

Deb, thanks on all counts. I am hoping he has a terrific time...he had earned it. You have a great weekend too

Dani, I am hoping. Liz is taking video!

JB, thanks, he was raising heck with me, making faces and all...I had to wait until he was ready to walk away to get the shot I wanted. Not bad for an old guy...lol

  6. LOL about the haircut. Husband grew up on NY dairy farm, mom did the haircuts on the boys. Who has time for barbershop?
Guess who inherited the job. I hate it too, but I do it when I hafta. He has very curly hair, so it is kind of like shearing a sheep.
You made me laugh, he left on a business trip Thursday, hair cut Wednesday night. :o)

  7. This is so cool. You people just keep getting more interesting.

And may I add - your hubby has a Gene Hackman quality about him. He happens to be one of my favorite actors. Please don't tell me his politics. (Gene's that is) I don't want to know. I've already written so many twits off my movie list.

You're a brave woman. I've only attacked my husbands hair on a couple of occasions over 40 some years.

    You did just fine.

  9. My coworker's an auctioneer too and sometimes I ask him, just for my own amusement, to do his rap for me.

  10. ...the end of the "rap" disappeared. I guess "comments" doesn't like very very long lines with no spaces!

  11. I've always thought it would be fun to learn how to run the patter and talk that fast. I'm also convinced that it would be hard work, too.

Oh, and have I said lately how good you are with pictures? You captured the enthusiasm the boss has for his auctioneering duties. It's infectious!

  14. Caroline, sounds so much like home. lol. I have been cutting hair since my brother had long hair in high school. My mom would nag him to get it cut and he would get me to do it because I didn't take much off.

Cathy, no bravery really. He has never once complained one word. He likes to have me do it I guess and he just takes what he gets. lol He does clean up good....I was surprised, he was pretty shaggy

Rooster, will do, thanks for stopping by

June, I would love to have heard him do it! We had to lean Betty Botter bought some butter but she says this butters bitter...if I put it in my batter it will make my batter bitter so she bought a bit of better butter, put it in her bitter batter, so tis better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter....I can still barely say it

Jeffro, thanks, those are kind words indeed. He loves auctioneering. I am so glad he got to spend the day doing it. Actually it is way after night chores and he still isn't home, but I guess they had thousands of items to sell. He won't need any rocking tonight. lol

Linda, thanks on both counts. This is the first plant I have ever had any success with. Guess it likes the ground there

anon, sounds like a fun day...he still isn't home. lol

I have a big box of the toy tractors and equiptment that belonged to my son and he is 42 now so you can see they are very old but in good condition.

  16. I still cut my family's hair, too. Although I don't mind much, I do love the look of fresh haircut! Your boss has a great smile! Must come from getting to do something he enjoys so much!
