  1. I haven't seen any yet and it's not because it hasn't been cold ......... just way to cloudy and gray.

  2. Don't usually see them around here much. Conditions not right I guess. Lovely shot.

  3. I'm taking on faith that the sun is still up there. We haven't seen it for a while.

  6. Did this one have a twin?

It's always neat to spot them, though it's a sure sign of frigid goin's on.

  7. Linda, this one was a surprise. I stepped outside to do something or other and there it was, bright as a beacon. I would say that I wish you some sun, but then it would probably just get colder....

Dani, thanks, it was about the brightest one I have ever seen

Louise, thanks for visiting and for taking time to comment! Welcome to our page for our little family farm. We get them quite often here, very humid right by the river, which is perhaps why we do. This one was exceptionally bright. thanks!

Jan, oh, I am so sorry. Gloomy days are a misery. That is one solace we have had with all this cold weather...several very sunny days, which are so welcome. Yesterday it was actually a pleasure to go out and I think Nick got more walkies than he has seen in weeks. lol

Linda, I wonder if they are a feature of the humidity. We are very humid here by the river.

Mom, a sun dog is a mini rainbow in the sky, caused I believe by ice in the atmosphere. There is usually a pair when you see them, one on each side of the sun.

Cathy, it probably did, but it would have been behind some of the barn buildings. I think I was baking cookies when I saw this one, so I just ran out behind the house, snapped and ran back in. We are having a spell of sharp cold, but at least we are getting some sun. And as an SAD person you can imagine how I love that sun. lol
