Broke into one of my favorite blog folks' Jeep the other day and did some nasty damage.
Some other creeps came across our posted property line RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR LIVING ROOM WINDOWS, cut down Alan's tree stand and stole it. It had been there for years...the first one we let him put up. I wanted to be able to keep half an eye on him when he was first out hunting alone, so it has been there at least 6 years. They had to come right up almost to the house to get it and spend a goodly amount of time getting it out of the brush around the tree. Must have done it while we were milking because otherwise I would almost certainly have seen them. I must look out those big windows a thousand times a day.
And the dogs would have barked.
Guess that is what you get when they put up a housing development right next to you.
Ditto CTG Ponies.
ReplyDeleteCan't you follow their tracks back to wherever they took it?
Speaking of tree stands, my hubby and I took two of them down a few years back ... out of our 20-acre woodlot. They were nice ones, too, with swivel seats, all freshly oiled. We thought about bringing them home with us, but finally left them in the woods. They were gone a couple weeks later, and haven't been put back up ... so far.
I really cannot believe the level of bold aggression required to steal someone's property while they work nearby to maintain their lives.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. More for the loss of your sense of security than anything.
How satisfying would it have been to fire a few rounds above their heads?
Boy can I relate to this post!
ReplyDeleteJERKS!!
That is horrible, it is too bad that something can't be done about that crap happening. The district attorney said last week that crime has really spiked up pretty bad since the economy has taken a crap!
ReplyDeleteGolly. That completely sucks!

Basically, what I have to say is unprintable.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your kind thoughts on this topic. We are pretty ticked off, mostly because it was so close to the house. We are pretty accustomed to trespassers up in back. You simply can't catch them all, but this would be like someone coming right into your back yard. Becky thinks she actually knows when it was done, as her dog Sadie barked her head off the other night and just wouldn't stop. She thought she was barking at deer or coyotes so she didn't say anything. We got in late from the barn that night....
ReplyDeletewait. they stole a tree stand?!? what the hell is wrong with people??
ReplyDeleteEricka, sure ticked Alan off. It has been there so long, I don't know how they cut it out of the Virginia creeper and rose bushes that grew up around it. Debating...Amish or folks from the development....
