The original three collies, Gael, looking sheepish,
Nick with his back turned,
and Mike hating the camera, but doing what I asked him.... as always
The little brown dog, Two Bears, was an amazingly clever little girl, who got her son, Bobby, to dig out woodchucks for her by barking in his ear. We were always having to go get them out of hedgerows, where she stood on the surface barking and barking and barking, while he dug until his toes bled. As far as I know they never actually caught one, but that didn't stop them from trying.
They all look like they are getting up in years? All sweeties I'm sure. :)
ReplyDeleteAww they are so cute! I love BCs.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, aren't Border Collie's funny they just don't know what the word quit means. Two Bears looks like she could really get airborne.

ReplyDeleteYou have some of the best companions! Great pictures of the three of them!
ReplyDeleteI love the stories to go along with your pictures, they are a beautiful bunch.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the pleasure one gets from our pets is only measurable by how much we miss them when they are gone.....each one is so different and irreplacable. I appriciate my dogs and often think of how sad I would be without a dog around. Yours look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSuch precious pups! I know they've brought so much joy to you through out the years.
ReplyDeletedibear, alas, only Nick is still with us. Mike has been gone two years this fall, Gael one, and Two Bears many, many years. They were good ones.
ReplyDeleteAchieve, thanks, I do too.
Janice, thanks, they sure are
June, they surely love to work! I forgot to take the phone upstairs the other night and it rang. Nick, the official phone notifier, howled his heart out down here, knowing that I probably didn't hear it. What a good boy!

Dani, thank you...they have. Nick still does. He is getting old too...alas....
Nice post, such amazing pets. Does they live in the farm? They are healthy and seemed so contented.
ReplyDeleteI'm late to this, but oh my, oh my . . .
ReplyDeleteI"ll bet these precious pixes brought back memories for everyone.
I love the way you note the endearing qualities of individual dogs. I'm wondering if working dogs have more idiosyncrasies or obvious character traits than standard house dogs.
I get too darned attach to these faithful, wonderful companions. I guess the only antidote it to keep 'em comin' so that there's no time to linger in grief.
In my next life I'm going to be stoic.
(Don't hold your breath;-)
Texas, thanks
ReplyDeleteCathy, I was just thinking how grateful I am to have the photos to remember them all by. It is too easy to forget. I get attached to them too, very much so, but I HAVE to have a dog. Some are more special than others but they each have their own place in our lives and I love them all.
I loved all the photos (I just love dogs) and your post about them is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks, ThreeCollie
Linda
