We have great road names here in the Northeast, like Frog City road
Wish we could have made it up for a shot at the Pumpkin Hollow Road sign

Love the shots of the Amish, we have them in our area as well. The "road apple" shot is pretty funny. :) Would that be considered littering!! LOL
ReplyDeleteExcellent shots, I'm partial to the back counrty gravel and dirt roads, more to explore there..:-)
ReplyDeleteOhhh, country roads...
ReplyDeleteDear to my heart.
I notice the signs show pretty fancy high-steppin' horses for the Amish, and just ol' down to earth horses for riders.
Gotta say: that "no road maintenance . . sign" - got my attention.
ReplyDeleteI know you appreciate how lucky you are to live in rural America where road apples are not an uncommon occurrence. ;-D
Those signs take me back to rural Midwest where I lived for so many years. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI had to try to figure out where you took these :) so.
ReplyDeleteIs the seasonal sign by Mason Lake?
I had to cheat and use google earth to find Frog City Rd, but there's one over east called Dead Toad Hollow.
The horse & rider could be from a lot of places in Saratoga County and probably other counties, as well.
The monk must be from Jordanville.
As for the Amish, they're everywhere ... and the apples. :)
How'd I do? This was fun.
I thought the buggy sign was a gag sign until I saw the next picture. We don't get many of those on the freeways where I mostly drive.
ReplyDeleteReally nice! Great area :-).
ReplyDeleteI felt relaxed seeing your shots!
ReplyDeleteThey are all great, but I really love the second to the last one.
ReplyDeleteNifty place you live.
ReplyDeleteI love the buggy shots......you DO have rural.......scenic rural!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love the shots of the horse and buggy. :D I wish we had Amish traffic lol.
ReplyDeleteWell done, I enjoyed those roads.
ReplyDeletedibear, thanks, this one was a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteEd, same here, so much to see
June, you have a point, which I hadn't noticed. Wonder who decides what the signs look like.
Cathy, really I am very grateful for where we live. I lived in town off and on a few times and really really hated it
Paul, glad you could ride along. Had a really nice time both trips.
Aka, the seasonal sign is the other end of Frog City Road, Bottom three are all up in Glen near Bedig's old place. Rest are in Jordanville coming home from the farm show.
Jan, lol, they are everywhere here! We hear them clopping past the house all hours of the day and night and meet them pretty much any time we go out.
tCSL, thank you!
firasz, thank you. It is a peaceful time of year here.
2BD, thanks, this was a really fun challenge.
Jake, thanks, I love to travel to see new places, but it is always great to come home
Linda, we do and lots and lots and lots of Amish. lol
a1dream, thanks! The Amish traffic is kind of a mixed thing. They are pretty cool on one hand, but impossible to see well, especially at night, on the other. I have come terrifyingly close to hitting unmarked farm wagons on high speed state highways in the dark. There is simply nothing you can do to make it better as some of them will not use lights or reflectors. Scares the heck out of me.
Janice, thanks!
Wow! Cool shots :) I would love to take drive thru the seasonal highway :)
ReplyDeleteWB, thanks, sometimes we do drive down these roads. It is amazing and wonderful what you see sometimes. However, we have had so much rain, even though the car is 4-wheel drive we were afraid to go any farther. Maybe someday though....
ReplyDeleteThe Amish and Mennonites here drive HUGE Big diesel trucks and talk on cell phones all the time.
ReplyDeleteThey are always nice and I love shopping at the one store they have. And they always welcome me.

Linda, we have a wide array of different degrees of them here, from horse and buggy to as high tech as anybody.
