June, they eat up a godawful amount of fish, but I love to watch them...they are so evocative of all things wild and wonderful
Joated, didn't see an adult male all week, but there were at least fifty young and hens..just counting the ones that swam past the porch every day.. The loons sure kept them in line though
Lisa, thanks, the porch is the only reason I get them. They don't seem to notice me up there if I move slowly and keep quiet..plus they like to hunt near the cabin.
Those ducks have interesting markings around their eyes. Makes them look surprised, or crafty . . . or something.
ReplyDeleteAll young and females. The adult males had sense enough to go on a fishing trip far, far away. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou sure did get some good pictures of them, by the time I got the camera, they were already too far for me to get any good pictures!
ReplyDeleteNever saw such a wonderful puddle of mergansers.

Cathy, sure was a good year for them!
