Winter Storm Watch

Because everyone likes to snuggle with the doggy, INSIDE his crate

Yep, for today and tomorrow.

Yesterday was pretty much normal....except for a couple of welcome naps.

However, Christmas doesn't stop work on a farm or even for those involved in keeping your milk supply clean and safe. Liz, who is a milk inspector, spent most of yesterday morning on the phone dealing with issues involving one of her farms. She was frantic, but all was smoothed over in the end, or at least delayed until today. She will be spending the whole day on the road, hopefully safely, getting things all straightened out.

I am working on this story for the Farm Side. What a mess! What a witch hunt. I hope that now this family can get on with doing what it was meant to do...grow food for hungry people...instead of spending all their time and money in court.

And it is cold. Not Alaska cold. Not South Dakota cold. Just New York cold, which is cold enough for me.

  1. My thermometer said 8 degrees an hour ago. Thats plenty cold for me. And oh yes, the winter storm watch. The even interupted the radio with the buzz alert yesterday when hubby and I were driving to his parents for dinner. Ought to be a "fun" storm....now if only I could convince the children across the street that just because they're out of school for the week doesn't mean they can blast their music loud enough I can hear it over 100ft away.....

  2. I hear right. Right now we zipped all the way up to 40*...lush and toasty, but I see the snow working it's way to us, which means it WILL get cold again. Think -5* tonight.

    Happy New Year

  3. My folks NE of you in
Clinton County are getting in the firewood, a good book or two and waiting for the snowy stuff to arrive.

  4. Awwww . . . love the picture . . my hubby would do the same thing if he were a bit more agile :)

Good for the Hudsons. We just watched a history channel piece on the Little Ice Age and the millions who starved because of crop failures and the resulting diseases that spread through weakened populations.

We take so much for granted - the wholesome foods we pluck off shelves. People like the Waterkeeper Alliance lack perspective and plain common sense.

  5. Happy to see that fight over with. It would be so nice if the government would reach the last hair on its back with these ridiculous antics by extremists that just can't seem to find the energy to move out to the country and learn something.

  6. Ruth, it is nasty, but I guess normal for this time of year. Stay warm and dry!

Linda, 40 sounds pretty good. lol

Caroline, good plans. We kept some cows in that have been going out....got in extra wood and all too.

Cathy, well said. And they are notoriously vindictive. I hope the Hudsons are able to carry on and that the appeal doesn't go forward.

WeldrBrat, you have the right of that. Common sense is so rare they ought to call it an endangered species and protect those who have it.
