Will They or Won't They
Make it up the driveway with the new stove today? It is all sanded, but we sure do have ice...everywhere. We turned the cows out and they were tippy-toeing real carefully up to their round bales.
We discovered burnt off wires on the old stove so it is being retired...it belonged to the boss's mom before we started using it so it is pretty old.
Thus we counted our blessings that the house didn't burn down around us and went and picked out a "scratch and dent" at the place where we do business. Hopefully it will be successfully delivered today so that I can cook that poor turkey.
Next question, will the milk tanker make it up the other driveway? That one is all sanded too, but it is steeper and icier. Ah, well, the driver is a real expert, and we are going to put the cows in and open all the gates before he comes so he doesn't have to stop on the hill.....
Raw turkey is quite unhealthy...hope they make the uphill trek.:)
ReplyDeleteHoly Kamoly. It's 58' here at 5 PM.
ReplyDeleteI hope this spring weather is headed your way.
Keith actually got his walker outside and down the driveway. A few neighbors assembled on the sidewalk to visit. That usually doesn't happen til late March.
Jan, happy days, happy dance. That puppy is in the new oven now and just beginning to smell wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCathy, we are getting it too...very nice. I am so glad you wrote. I have been iffing and anding all day about whether I should drop you a note or text to ask how Keith was doing. I didn't want to bother you but you both have been in my thoughts....
Awww . . Marianne . . . I have learned so much from this experience.
ReplyDeleteFirst: People should never hesitate to email or call. Funny, but you're so isolated and the days are so long . . that simply knowing that people are thinking about you is healing. You don't have to pick up the phone if you're changing dressings or other necessary stuff. So no harm in a ringing phone.
Two: Bring food. Don't stay beyond sifting a few smiles and good wishes. The patient is suffering . . the care-taker is exhausted.
People are so good. Lordy. We've received three casseroles that tasted better than any meal in any fancy restaurant.
Three: Remind yourself constantly that things improve, but so slowly that you aren't aware of it. Better days are coming.
Cathy, I can just imagine the misery of your post-op situation. My mom had a hip replaced just a bit ago, and you know about my dad's heart surgery. They are so amazing at taking care of one another! Over sixty years together and still doing it. Will hold you both in thoughts and prayers!
ReplyDeleteI just read your comments back to everyone! THE turkey is in the oven!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL!

Linda, and amazingly, after sitting in the refrigerator, thawing, for a week, it was still good, and in fact delicious!
