The Honey and Cinnamon Cure
For the past week the rest of the family has been down with a horrendous cold. Beck missed work. The boss huddled under layer upon layer of blankets shivering and coughing worse than a platoon of cats at a hairball party.
I avoided them as much as possible in hopes of also avoiding their godawful plague, but sure enough, three days ago, the dreaded sore-throat knocked on my door too.
I had read about the honey and cinnamon thing, and since I love both, I hunted up the formula for colds and took it for three days. I felt a bit under the weather. Slight fever one night. Scratchy throat. Kinda cruddy. But never chair-huddling, moaning, groaning, gasping and choking sick.
I pretty much sailed right through it, while everyone else was really rough.
Could it have been the cure? Or was it that I don't have respiratory allergies and asthma and they do? And take vitamins religiously?
I dunno, but I am sure going to keep honey on hand. And cinnamon. Yeah, that too.
If it works, it works. Good to know!
ReplyDelete"a platoon of cats at a hairball party" ...best figure of speech I've read for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteRev. Paul, could be I just take better care of myself....but I will take whatever I can get.
ReplyDeleteJan, you should hear him!
The Bossman uses honey and cinnamon on his toast EVERY morning......me.....I pop vit C tablet if I feel something coming on.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love cinnamon and I am crazy about honey so even if it didn't do any good at all....lol And I always take my vitamins.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to steal your sentence : A platoon of cats at a hairball party --- I loved it! Sorry you'all have been sick, but ever so glad you sailed through better than the others!
ReplyDeleteSpring colds are right up there with summer colds...horrid!

Linda, that is fine. That is just how he sounds. lol I am very grateful to have stayed somewhat healthier than the others. They were really sick!
ReplyDeleteLordy. I'd missed this. My sturdy brother got this bug and ended up with pneumonia. Actually IV antibiotic.
ReplyDeleteGlad you fought it off.
Cathy, Ralph coughed and slept in his chair for over a week. He looked like a homeless man. He doesn't get sick much, but when he does, he does it right. I am grateful that it didn't bother me much, whatever the reason. Lot of pneumonia around this spring.
