That Pesky Animal Rights Video

Yet another, oh, those cruel dairy farmers, video surfaced yesterday. I haven't watched it, but it is said that it showed cows walking in deep manure.

Dairy Carrie took an intensive look at it and found a number of discrepancies, which would probably only be noticed by an industry insider. She pretty much discredited the video, at least for anyone who understood cows.

Then this morning a farmer on Facebook shared this local news story that completely debunked the whole thing.

Animal control and the Department of Agriculture stepped in, took a look and found no basis at all for claims of cruelty.

No basis. Just hype. They did mention a few housekeeping issues due to recent bad weather, but you'll get that, trust me. It doesn't equal abuse.

To me, this just makes other undercover videos that much more suspect than they already were.

  1. A few housekeeping issues..... well put, and I have to wonder how these PETA types would do trying to keep several hundred mouths fed, several hundred bodies cleaned, and hundreds of acres in tip-top shape daily. Then add to that all this rain.....
Many of the PETA people I've had the misfortune to meet can't even seem to manage to keep themselves washed and fed properly....

  2. Hi, Jeff, thanks for stopping by and commenting. I love what you said...you are so right. We have had rain 12 days in a row, two nice days, and now a flash flood warning for the whole region. If we still were milking the whole herd, I shudder to think what the mud would be like. Even with only three cows and a calf making the walk to the pasture, the lanes get pretty chewed up. Can't imagine trying to spread on fields, many of which are still carrying 1st cutting hay! Sad.

  3. After several days of rain I have seen the cows sink in the mud on there way to the barn, it was not abuse but mother nature feeding the earth with much needed rain. People tend to talk about things they know nothing about and others that are just as unknowing tend to listen and speak. This world supports so many people that have nothing to say but want to say it anyway. Some people even get elected to public offices.

  5. Lisa, yes! That would make them understand....but they don't want to understand. They just want to win...and make lots of money.

Ellie, yes, hooves make mud. the scenes in the video showed a pretty dirty barn, but things get dirty when it rains a lot and cleaning can't take place.

Linda, I have some other words for them too. But I don't want to get kicked off social media. lol
