Life on a family farm in the wilds of Upstate New York

Yes, thanks for sharing warm weather reminders!
Only 3 more months of winter!
aurora, in winter I find it hard to believe in summer, ditto summer and winter. It is hard to imagine fields of so much green we have to cut it, trim it, pull it up out of the garden...and in summer the mounds of grey and white are hard to envision. Better days are coming though, as my dad always said. lol
Shirley, I am grateful for the warm, easy autumn we had here. Winter came with a bang, but at least it waited until its due season. I am madly grateful not to live in Buffalo. Those poor, poor souls. Stay warm!
YES! I can hardly wait. I am not a fan of winter
Same here, Linda! I miss gardening and being comfortable outdoors.
Have you been abused by winter over there in Montgomery County? Where I live in Saratoga County, I am still longing for ice and snow and the many delights they offer me (yeah, I know, I'm kinda nuts!). Winter just begins to rev up with single-digit dawns and an inch or two of snow, and then we get rain and above-freezing days that remove most traces of snow and ice. The paper says we might get close to 60 degrees later this week. Lots of folks love that, but I sure don't. I want to get out on the frozen lake and gab with the ice fisherguys. My favorite Christmas present was a great pair of warm and waterproof boots that have retractable ice grippers in the soles. I do agree, that without the right clothes, winter is miserable.
Jacqueline, we have had weird weather for sure! Torrential, horrible, rains, nasty cold, heavy snow, but we got off lightly compared to much of the state. I don't dare complain in light of the disaster in Buffalo! I also received a new pair of ice grippy things for my boots. Haven't put them on yet though, as I am using a pair of beat up old ones a friend gave me. Even with them it is creepy out on the ice. I don't think we can afford to fall these days. Happy New Year!
