Probably taking a flying trip to Florida over New Years. Suggestions for good hotel or motel in safe area....maybe one night in northern part of state and one night in the southern.

Thanks, we are hoping to avoid particularly dangerous areas. Best advice on places to stay away from would be much appreciated.

Thanks again.

I've only been to Florida once recently, in 2008. We stayed at the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa outside Orlando. It's beautiful, luxurious, and quiet.

Where in southern part of state. We have a house full of company or I would tell you a safe cheap( free ) place you could stay. The weather is just perfect now, not hot but not cold. I hope it holds for your trip.

FUN! That will be really cool to be where it is warm and nice! Head to the beach if you can!

REv. Paul, last trip for me was a spring break trip so.....lol a long, long time ago.

Ellie, guess we are going to stay north central. Driving distances would otherwise give us little time to see beaches and birds. Thanks

Linda, beaches and birds and seeing as much of the state as we can cram into a couple of days are on the agenda.

Nita, thanks, and I'll bet her mama would be glad to give you a couple hours or so. She is a real handful.

Go straight to Key West and skip the rest of the state.. :-)

Ed, we actually thought about that as I had a lot of fun in the Keys the only other time I have been in Florida. A LOT of fun. Time constraints though...we just can't make it that far south and have any time to see what we want to see.
