Fairgrounds
This is the fair grounds, where the rides are set up, and parking for Fonda Speedway. We could joke about having jet ski races this Saturday in place of the usual stock cars, but the situation is just too serious to laugh about.

I've been watching all this on the news and it's just awful. So good to hear you are on the high and dry side, but still, that's hard not being able to get into town for groceries and so forth. I feel so bad for these people, so many were caught unaware and trapped. Awful situation overall. Stay safe!
Hi Laura, thanks for stopping by. This has been so scary because we thought we were completely safe up here on our hill. Never thought about having to get out for diesel for the generator and food. Still we are much better off than a lot of poor souls.
Oh my .... I've been watching the news for days now and all we hear about is the terrible flooding! I certainly hope you get relief soon. When I read that you are talking the Mohawk ... I couldn't help but think of the old movie, 'Drums Along the Mohawk'!!
Hi mama mouse, delighted that you stopped by. Drums Along the Mohawk was written about this area by a man my late mother-in-law actually knew when she was a young girl working in Boonville (he came into the restaurant where she worked and ordered strawberry shortcake often). Many of the characters in the novel lived near here or were based on real people who did live here. You are more than welcome for the comment. You have a very nice blog.
Glad you're okay, but our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected...
I'm glad to see, however, that some humour is poking through... sometimes, a smile and a laugh help with tough times... and nothing's really terribly innapropriate. Think about when you've had bad times... hasn't a smile or laugh at a situation helped?
It's important to take events seriously... but take ourselves less seriously.
