Life on a family farm in the wilds of Upstate New York

I used to live in Richfield Springs. It is an interesting area. There is a spring in town at the park that smells of sulphur. The Indians called it the "oh-qwee-oh-niss," meaning "stinking water." Celebrities and heads of state used to soak their priceless bodies in the waters for therapy. That is how Richfield Springs got on the map-- hosting the rich dudes who'd use their water as a public bath.
Hi mrs. m, I was familiar with some of that about Sharon Spings, but I didn't know about Richfield. We drive through now and then and I have always wanted to take a picture of this pretty little body of water. No idea what it is, but I would love a chance to canoe it.
Very nice photos. The color of the grass and the contrast of the water is beautiful.
Thanks dmm, it was so sunny that I couldn't see to focus so they are a bit blurry, but it is such a pretty place out there
If I think I know where you were, those two lakes are Weaver Lake and Youngs Lake (nicknamed the Twin Lakes), right by Little Lakes Rd and Route 20 in Warren (just east of Richfield). The only other lake I am aware of in Richfield is Allen's Lake, which, interestingly enough, is named after one of my husband's ancestors.
The area is purdy. I think some group wants to build a huge windfarm off in that area, somewhere... I think they may have some problems with that, because the land is very shifty-- all limestone and caves underneath, and not supportive enough for mega-ton windmills.
Oops, duh, I forgot that another lake in Richfield is Canadarago Lake, a big one. It is a beautiful lake, actually. I didn't mention it because it didn't look like the lakes you photographed. Gosh, Richfield has a lot of lakes! I used to live off LAKE Street, by the way! ;)
Why does blogger have to eat comments, why I ask you??? WHY!
Now to try again....thanks for the information Mrs. M.
I have always enjoyed driving by all three lakes although we have never stopped before.
Do the two little ones have good fishing, do you know?
