I'm flashing back to when Misty had puppies and we would have to pick them up and talk to them and hold them and stroke them...somebody had to do it and we all unselfishly volunteered to do it often.

I remember Poodle puppy breath as being one of the great scents in the world.

Hi FC, it was tremendous fun! I didn't get a whole lot of sleep and I worried a lot because puppies are a huge responsibility and I wanted to get it right, but it was a terrific experience.

Hello Dave, and thanks for visiting. Cuteness helped us get through the insanity of having the little devils living with us.

Hey there Jan, thank you for reminding me of puppy breath...one of the best things about having a puppy! We always called it "brown puppy breath" for some forgotten reason. The socializing was funny....we had no trouble finding neighbor kids who would step up to the plate (and into the pen) to help us get the puppies used to people.

What cute puppies! How neat that Lark is a therapy dog!

I have friends who have 4 golden retrievers that are therapy dogs. They did an enormous amount of good for people after 9/11 here.

Sweet! I adopted a puppy about a year ago, a Lhasa apso, and I adore him!

Hi carol, thanks for visiting! I was delighted that two pups from the litter made it into the ranks of therapy dogs.

Hello cubby, me too, but with five dogs I guess I had better not. lol

Hello rhea, and good for you. There is nothing like having a dog...or five.

Cute puppies! Do these dogs make nice pets? You know, kind, playful, (semi)-obedient and non-destructive?

My husband's heart went out to an old Beagle (pure-bred) last year, but she is a REAL pain, and actually not very happy being just a "pet." She wants to get lose and roam the world. Very destructive and messy... guess we learned the hard way! But I do wonder what kinds of dogs make better family dogs than others... I'm a bird- and cat- person and don't know much about dogs. Your little ones there look very cute.

Hi mrs. m....sorry to say that, although I love 'em, I would never recommend a Border collie as family pet unless the family was familiar with the breed and intensely attuned to working with a dog. BC's are first and foremost working dogs and if they don't have work they make it up...including things like tearing your house to pieces, herding kids and nipping neighbors. If you are serious about agility, obedience training, or especially herding sheep or cows you can't beat a BC. Otherwise a nice Lab or Golden is a better bet.
