More storm stuff

This little toy car is inside the kitchen window
(gotta find where that snow is sneaking in and caulk it!)

It CAN be pretty

Chingachgook...or just some silly boy hunting pigeons in the storm?

We just like to take weather pictures I guess. It is nice today except for the wind....lots of sun.

  1. Woh-hoh, TC! That snow coming through your kitchen window is amazing! Makes my kitchen window look good (a 70's aluminum junker that leaks like a sieve).

I always like your pictures and stories about your farm. Did the boy get any game? ;)

    P.S. What's a Chingachgook?

    Stay warm!

This all brings out your hardy pioneer stock, I'm sure. Great photos, as usual, to give a sense of the everchanging landscape and window ledge.

  3. Hi Mrs. M, yeah, there is a tiny little hole somewhere there...can't really see it, but it is there somewhere and I WILL find it and caulk it when it dries up.
Chingachgook is the Indian buddy of Hawkeye, in James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans, which can be read here if you have the patience. I always get confused by Cooper's verbosity

  4. Love the deep snow photos!!
Here on the east side of Michigan we get very cold, but not as much as the west side of the state with their "lake effect" big snows.
I love that truck picture, but yeah....you really need to weatherstrip your window!

  5. I went snow mountain climbing to get to school mommy. The stairs weren't cleared. :( I am not tall enough for that sort of thing. Specially not when I have a cup of coffee, books and such.

Although I haven't found any snow drifting in, this whole house creaks in this wind. I keep plugging up leaks, but there is always a new one.

Hi carina, thanks....that is one of the "see the barn" windows. The rest are generally covered with plastic where the wind hits. I have to get some clear caulk for it...and some others that have shown their true colors.

Paints, yeah, as you know your mountain climbing just plain made my morning!
NW The computer has another "see the barn" window next to it and there is a lot less competition for it just now. It is odd though. I went out and shoveled out the wood pile and the area around the stove and didn't get cold at all, even though the wind was really howling. I think if it wasn't blowing today it would be a real nice day.

Wow, lots of snow. Glad to hear your babies are ok too. What is a Chingachgook? Some type of ghostly spirit? Stay warm and dry.

  9. Hi Rg, yeah, we got dumped on, with real cold and high winds to follow. Chingachgook was Natty Bumppo AKA Hawkeye's buddy in the last of the Mohicans. He was supposed to be the last Mohican chief and to have been based upon a real life character called Injun Joe.
