All went well

Stealing a wee snack from number 49, Veronica, who is NOT her mother, but was willing none the less.

I am so glad it went well. The birth of the first calf from my 4-H project cow was a disaster. Ropes, blood, pain, and a dead calf after much work. I wonder if it was then that I decided to leave the farm. It was, oh dear, at least 50 years ago and I can still feel the pain that my cow went through. Sigh!

OW, you must have been heartbroken. I am so sorry for your bad experience....it does happen sometimes, no matter what you do. This time I was hoping for and rather expected a decent outcome, as Lemmie is a huge heifer and Jerseys tend to produce small calves. She popped this one out like toast from a toaster. I sat on a bag of feed and watched but didn't have to intervene at all. She loves her baby.

I love Lemmie. Now if we can just get Evi through calving...

Um, yeah, be glad you are not the one milking her, as she is not so very fond of the process yet.,
