AMWD, thanks, we are actually nearly surrounded by many families and farms that have moved here in the past decade.

Thejesse, I have been trying for two years to get photos of this particular farmer's oat fields, but it always seemed that by the time I remembered the camera he had them all put away. This year I got lucky.

It looks so labor-intensive. I guess it's that 'hands-on' effort that makes it so attractive.

Hi Mon@rch, thanks...it was within my husband's lifetime that the "English" farmers (that's us) made their grain and straw the same way. I have to say...it is a lot easier with a combine. lol
