All afternoon yesterday we listened to the hostage drama at a Clinton campaign office in New Hampshire. (The girls called me as they were leaving college, or I wouldn't even have known about it as the boss and I were busy battening down the hatches.)
All afternoon yesterday Fox called the alleged perpetrator Troy Stanley. This morning when I sat down to read the news headlines they are calling the guy Lee Eisenberg.. So which was it? And did he really only have road flares? And who is Troy Stanley? Is he upset over the apparent misidentification? Or is one just an alias for the other? Just wondering.....

Lee Eisenberg of Somersworth, N.H. was the hostage taker in this matter.
For the record, Troy Stanley's name was inadvertently publicized nationwide by a frenzy of news hungry media agencies who didn't know what they were talking about.
I attended high school and carried on a great friendship with Troy and his late brother Jeff. Through Jeff and Troy I met their remaining family members, both from one of the finest families you could ever want to meet.
I have been out of touch with Troy for several years, therefore can not comment on his mental state of being.
I find the actions in this matter taken by the news media as being unprofessional, offensive, and substantially lacking knowledge. The information reported did not have the much needed substance in bringing accurate and up to date information to us the people who want to know.
I can only hope that Troy Stanley and his family will pursue this matter to the fullest extent of the law in having their name cleared publicly.
To have their name spattered over millions of televisions across the country is a travesty.

Hello Jim and thanks for taking time to answer my question. As yesterday went on and it become reasonably clear that the media (mostly Fox) made an awful error in their feeding frenzy, we were pretty appalled too....especially since a story that was stop-the-presses, wall-to-wall covered, just vanished. (I have a feed of Fox top stories and after all the attention given the New Hampshire incident, the top six on the list yesterday did not mention the topic.) Anyhow, thanks again...
Okay, is anyone surprised over this?? News agencies have gotten so they play pretty fast and loose with the truth. Then, when they do get something wrong, they just gloss over it. I feel really sorry for Troy Stanley and I would sue the bejeezus out of whoever I could!!!
Flo, You are so right. I have gotten to where I wait until the next day or even week after one of these big "unfolding in real time" stories takes place, because you can scarcely trust any of the information.
