Life on a family farm in the wilds of Upstate New York

Now your weather looks just a bit like ours does today:) What kind of lettuce works indoors this time of year? I've always been tempted to grow some.
Hmm, how can you let it grow? I would be picking at it every day!
I like the pictures of the snow and that gorgeous lettuce - what a contrast. I haven't started my lettuce yet. I better get busy.
Linda, this particular lettuce is Pinetree's lettuce mix, but I suspect you could use any kind you like. Leaf would probably be better than head types. We have done this for two years now with great success.
Mon@rch, believe me, that is an issue. I limit myself to four leaves a day out of this little crop. When I have a bigger container and more dirt we can get enough for sandwiches for the whole family or to punch up a salad. It tastes so good in the winter..and no dirt and no bugs!
Nita, Thanks, I kind of like the lettuce better than the darned snow. I have a virtual jungle of house plants between my Sunday chair and the big windows, so I see green before white.
