As of Monday the paper I write a weekly column for, the Recorder in Amsterdam, has a free website. Thus if you wish to read the Farm Side each week you can do so. Here is a link to last's week's column.

Congratulations! That's a big step up ... and something new to try, if not a long-time aspiration. Blogs are a good stepping stone like that, among other things.
I'm so HAPPY! I keep meaning to ask for information so that I could get a subscription. Happy Day.
Matt, after over ten years it is about time, isn't it....and it was ten years last march
Robert, thanks, it is so nice to finally have it online. I started writing for the paper when a friend had the column over ten years ago, but it was never available online. When the paper put up a website, it was a pay one and have to navigate, so I never encouraged folks to go there. Actually in this case, Northview grew out of the Farm Side...I had more to say, so I started writing this about three years ago to expand on it..and it sure has been fun.
Teri, it runs today again and I will put up a link. Thanks
Well, it's about time! Thanks for letting us know. I sent an email to the Recorder a long time ago telling them that people won't pay to go to their website when they could go to the Leader and the Albany Times for free. The response I got was "That's what they said about cable TV." Little did they know - we don't have cable, either!
I sent another email when the Gazette opened up their website, but didn't get any further response. Glad to see they might have a chance to get back in the running.
I just checked, and they haven't opened up the Hamilton Co. News yet. How much longer do you suppose that will take?
akagaga, I never could understand their rationale. The site was not only a pay site, it was very hard to navigate...and even hard to pay for. Sometimes I needed to search the archives and once it took me TWO WEEKS to get them paid and get to what I wanted...not conducive to return visits. I read literally dozens of papers across the world in pursuit of research material for the column and only a tiny percentage of them even require registration any more. The world of news is changing fast these days.
