Gillibrand for Senator

Am I thrilled? Hell Yeah!

If she is indeed chosen today at noon, at least somebody representing NY will be from upstate, pro 2A, able to use and understand common sense, and in her own words, "
"I've been working hard for our middle class families, for our veterans, for our farmers, and I think the work I have done I can do on a bigger scale as a senator and continue to help all the constituencies I've been working for and perhaps even have a bigger impact in the Senate." (From Channel 9 News)

I think this is the first time I have heard anyone mention farmers in a positive way, at least anyone in a position of government power, since about last September.

I guess it could have been a LOT worse. But I don't think she has any real commitment to the 2A.

While I'm not eye to eye with Gillibrand on some issues, I'm also pleased at her selection, although she would not have been my first choice. I'm happy for Upstaters and for farmers. The next couple years will be interesting for our region.

Troll, you could certainly be right. I don't want to ruffle too many feathers, but considering the other choices, if nothing else she has some ties upstate....unlike certain other candidates, whose names I won't repeat that probably would be hard pressed to find anything north or west of Albany on a map.

NYCO, I feel as if our region vanished completely a few months ago...hope I'm wrong...

I thought about you this morning when I heard who the replacement senator would be. Gotta be better. Gotta be.

Look on the bright side at least you are not in Illinois... :-)

I hope she's a real advocate for the farmers in NY state. I was thrilled I was hearing her name and not one we are all just too familiar with :)

Jan, exactly! No body is perfect, but we sure could have done worse

Ed, there is that! lol

Deb, right again. Upstate NY always, always suffers at the hands of city legislators who run the state. This year it became worse than ever. I am sure that one very young, junior senator can't do a lot, but we will take what we can get I guess.
