Seven Below Zero

On Farm Side Friday, which coincidentally is titled Below Undertaking.

****Thanks to Rurality for the article that inspired this one.

The photos have nothing to do with the Farm Side, Friday, or being below zero. Rather, they may serve as a small reminder that better days are coming (it says in fine print.)

Fred your pictures make me want to dig out the garden pond and thaw it out. Winter will be over some day.

You really dont have any choice about what makes you tick...math or feed a new born calf...deal with back stabbing co-workers or ride around a field raking hay taking in the sun, smell of fresh grass, rabbits and the wily woodchuck...I know what I would choose in a heartbeat, dispite the pay and the hours. It's what made me tick, who I am and at the end of the day, I always felt like I made a diffrence in our world.

It was 13 below on this side of the river when I got up. It's not a lot warmer downstairs. :)

It's coming, it's coming!

It was 10 here this morning. Not supposed to be that cold in Alabama. :)

I think my brain froze; I didn't recognize those items in the pictures. Could you caption them next time? *teeth chatter*

Being a Florida girl, I'm curious about your animals. Do they do okay when the temps are that low?

I keep worrying about all my friends in this freezing cold weather. Please stay warm, and bundle up your critters. Let us know how you are doing.

Thanks for the flower pics.....I really need that :) Great Farm Side as always - regardless of where farming placed on the list, I guess I'm going to stick with it - I could be doing worse and I can't imagine doing anything that makes me happier.

Oooooh, I didn't realize how much I needed to see those photos, thank you!

And I LOVED your Farm Side column!

Matty, isn't it awful? You work half the year getting your pond looking great and then winter buries it under cold and white for the rest of the year! Love you

WW, that is so true and profound. I was born in the city to non farm folks, but this is how it was meant to be...no matter how discouraging.

akagaga, wonder why it is so much colder? Of course, I am going by the weather station in town....

Rurality, 10!! Holy cow that is cold for way down south. Stay warm if you can! And thanks for that article

Kristen, easy to forget what summer looked like, isn't it? Stay warm kiddo

Tipper, man that is cold! Are you set up to deal with it? I hope so...

Dani, most of them are indoors and all of them can get indoors if they want to. Cows like it very cool and don't mind the cold like this very much although they eat more....as do we... lol

Linda, thanks so much for thinking of us. We are doing fine so far...much warmer here than so many poor souls. Take care!

Ed, thanks, I needed to look at something besides snow and ice

Deb, thanks, I hope we can all hang on and keep farming. Sure is a tough climate today, but maybe there is hope...

Teri, glad to give you a shot of summer. I have got to get some sterile soil and start some geranium seeds. It is time and it makes me feel better about winter

Anon, thank you so very much!
