Good Morning Cold Village
It is cold here. Yeah, I know it is winter and we live in the Northeast, but as I think of Al Bore and what his raving is doing to the world economy and the lifestyles of everyone living on this planet, I get ranty and whiny. Where we live no matter what the darned groundhog (known in these environs as a woodchuck) sees when he comes out of his hole (which the real ones won't do for at least another month) we are going to get six more weeks of winter.
At least.
It often snows in April here. It certainly snows in March. It is too cold for most of May to plant anything but lettuce and peas and maybe oats and seeding out in the fields.
Some Februarys it never gets above freezing for the whole month. I guess we are actually supposed to get some warmth this weekend...probably warm up and snow.
We have seen forty below for a week some years. Not this winter yet, but just before I married the boss..... Not that long ago in the grand scheme of things. The ice got so thick on the roads that you could barely drive...and lots of ice pot holes that would swallow a car...
Anyhow...bah humbug....sorry, now we will return to your regular programing here at Northview Diary.

I'm sorry ThreeCollie. I can only imagine how tiring the cold must be after awhile. ((Hugs))
When I get whiny about it being 9 degrees here, all I have to do is visit your blog... No snow here though, and that does make me a bit pouty since we haven't had any in such a long time.
My hands still hurt from the cold this morning. The sunshine has been wonderful and this sunrise was spectacular yesterday and pretty today. I'm not looking forward to the coming snow but temps in the 40's will be welcome this weekend. I'm crossing my fingers that the snow finishes up in March.
Jeeze, how far north do you live? On the border with NB? Star warm, summer is just around the corner.
MAN! That is cold! The dark, the snow...the lights and the frozen sun starting to come up over the horizon.
Brrrr.
Cabin Fever is a real thing, real, documented, real. So the winter blahs have to be just as real!

The more I read about the realities of so-called global "warming" and the lies people are told about melting polar ice caps etc,the more I wonder about human intelligence. Don't stop writing on this.
I remember the warnings of the 70s about the coming ice age. Nobody made a slide show about it and won the Nobel prize.
19 was our low last night!!
No snow dang it!
Take heart, dear heart, look forward to mudd season, mud, mud, more mud,,blocking the driveway to keep whole vehicles from become lost....squishing and squashing from one place to another... and then!!! Lo! and Behold! Our three days of summer will be here. or, as your grandfather used to say..." I remember summer last yerar, it came on a Wednesday"
Mom
It was cold and my area was -8.6 last night! Brrr
OK, Today was much colder than yesterday.
Yesterday, with the sun shining, the temp in the teens and the wind chill about -4°F, I was walking around Albany with a short-sleeved shirt and no jacket. (OK, I had on 2 pairs of long johns under my jeans, and a tee shirt under the shirt.)
This morning definitely required a long-sleeved thermal shirt over the tee shirt and under long sleeves. Over that add an insulated vest and an insulated jacket, plus knit gloves on my hands until the car warmed up.
I was able to ditch the jacket by late afternoon when not standing around outside in the wind.
+44 was our low, 3C. I absolutely don't know how you keep from hibernating in such a climate.
Hoping for a quick Spring for you, regardless of what the other Punx say.
Dani, thanks, sorry about whining...
Rurality, nine can be plenty cold too...yesterday was just a miserable day, felt the coldest all winter.
Apple, I shouldn't complain because folks up your way really have it worse than we do..
Ed, too far., lol
Linda, I am sure that is the exact problem too. My car is buried in snow so I really can't go anywhere...even if I wanted to...and it is so cold that the weather becomes work.
Jan, thank you! I remember being terrified in high school that the sun was going to obscured and the world turn into a block of ice...and this week it seems as if they were right! lol
FC, snow gets old fast.
Mom, you are the best, and as usual, you are right. Love you
mon@rch....brrrrrrr.....
Anon, you are tougher than I am. lol I need two sweaters, turtleneck, fleece vest, fleece heavy shirt on top. Long johns, jeans and sweats on the lower half to go outside. I rarely wear a coat..but I would roll off the hill if I fell.
Steve, we have been holding up pretty good this year, but yesterday was just a bitter biter. The milk house water was frozen when we went in in the morning and the boss had to fix a broken, frozen water pipe in the heifer barn at eight thirty last night when we got done with chores...supposed to be a bit warmer today. I am really hoping.
And everybody, sorry about whining...it just got to me. I promise to try to do better.
Fred Yesterday was just nasty!!!1 Drilled all day .still cold even though I had a 32000BTU heater 4 feet from me. I feel your pain!!
Think SPRING think SPRING Think SPRINGGGGGGG!!!!!!! It is comming!!
Love Ya
Matt
Things are looking up, threecollie - I just spent 1.5 hrs in the barns in a balmy 6 degrees with no wind! NICE!
What a gorgeous picture!!! The only thing better would be enjoying a fire watching the snow under a warm blanket. Mary Jo and Hudson

Matty, we went all winter with no serious frozen water pipes...well, one....but that day we ended up with four major events. Horrible!
Teri, I went out without a coat with the dogs and the balmy 20s were bearable for a few.....lol
Hudson, thanks so much! I went out to shoot the sunrise and the village looked pretty twinkling down there...the sunrise photos all stink, stank or stunk, but that one came out all right.
