Sunday Stills Go High Go Low

This one was the hardest yet. I didn't know exactly what to photograph.

Finally I pointed the camera high at the honey locust tree and low at some rose quartz and Herkimer Diamonds, (both of which are once again buried in deep snow.) They are normally viewable around the base of the tree where I grow my kitchen herbs among some mineral specimens and a mess of field rock.

Plus another snow flake just for fun (they do start out high and end up low after all...) The blue background in these photos is the hood of Lizzie's pick up truck btw.

More Sunday Stills......

I love the pics! They make me want to slow down and smell the roses, or in today's case the ever-so-faint hint of spring. (Did you smell it this morning?) Love you guys.

WR, I have always wanted to get one, and with the camera I have now and my son teaching me I am finally able to do it.

The Wife, thanks, but yours are wonderful!

FC, with your talent, you should do this challenge...I am sure you would come up with some really great stuff!!

Andrea, thank you so much. It was delight to see your BC pics

Mon@rch, thanks, no shortage of subjects in the snow flake department. lol

Kristen, thanks, I know just what you mean! I miss the smell of green and earth and leaves! Love you too!

LInda, thanks, yours were wonderful too

Flo, thanks, it was hard to find anything "up"

STeve, thanks...
ps, I found some bubblewrap...

CC, thanks, I was trying to get the sun glancing through them, but of course a cloud came across...lol

Nita, thanks, me too, I have one of them as my desktop background just now

Ed, Herkimer Diamonds are especially clear, well-terminated quartz crystals that occur in this area and a few others. They are the most amazing things! I love digging them! If you are passing through the Herkimer Little Falls area you should take a day and go to one of the mines. It is amazing fun

Kelly, thank you!

Jen Mo, thanks, I have been trying for years!

Regular Guy, thanks, I loved yours too! And we have enough snow to go around if anybody wants a little

Far Side, thanks, that old honey locust is my favorite tree

You have the best, the coolest, mineral stuff! All I ever seem to find is just... rocks. (Even when I think I've found a cool Indian artifact, it just turns out to be a rock!)

Rurality...I sort of have an inside track. My dad was president of the county mineral collectors society for quite some time and I got to go on some expeditions with him. The rose quartz came from a mountain, not so far from here, that has long been closed to the public. We were lucky enough to get to collect there. And my brother dug the Herkimer Diamonds at an area mine. I love them!
